A weird episode. The 'personal reasons' can only be his wife not wanting to move, which is weird as you'd have thought they would have discussed it beforehand.
It is very odd. I feel a bit bad for Yeovil, a lot of time and effort went I to the manager search I bet. Danny has gone, made some good noises, instantly got the fans onside it seems, then done one. I've heard things about promises being made to him that then weren't kept, to something to do with his kids, and then his wife not wanting to move. The last one seems least likely to me because like you say you wouldn't say yes unless you'd discussed it surely. God knows, maybe something will come out when he does an interview here and gets asked about it.
The delusional part of my brain is doing cartwheels at the thought of Hinsh coming back. The rational part of my brain is a bit non-pulsed. The football has been weird this season and the results have been patchy at best. He’s a good manager but I don’t think he’s irreplaceable at all.
Wow.... That's a suprise. Best of luck to him up there. Wouldn't have had him marked for a job In the league above based on the start of this season but he did us well last year. You're right though in that Hinshelwood is a far flung dream (unless he has some deep yearning for Worthing pier) so whoever we next needs to get the attack and midfield rolling again, because that has taken a downturn. Lovely bit of compensation coming in though on the back of that extension in the summer!
I’m happy enough with the appointment. He seems like a coach who’s been steadily progressing and seems to have done well at other clubs. If anything it ends a run of uncertainty, and hopefully we have a direction moving forward. He’s got a big job to do and a big week to start with.
I am pretty much as ITK on this one as possible without speaking to Danny himself. The statement given by Yeovil was essentially a smokescreen to save face. The club made promises that they didn't keep and ultimately Danny wanted out before it tarnished his reputation. Wish Yeovil all the best and I'm pleased to see their upturn in results.
I've been concerned from the start by the presence of Nicholas Brayne (Nick Conrad) in our new hierarchy given his shady past including dodgy comments about women and alleged indiscretions at BBC WM. I think it's pretty clear what Rochdale fans think of him as well. For starters he seems to have promoted himself as an expert in mediation without any clear qualifications. Given he used to present on BBC Radio Norfolk it was interesting that in a scene in the new Alan Partridge series, Alan pours scorn on a supposed subject expert after finding out they got their degree from the University of Central Lancashire. Guess where Nick got his? Coincidence? Probably...
