5 months left on his contract.cheaper to pot him than have so many staying away at present And yet we still average 2300 or so
Conveniently, experienced manager Mark Molseley now available, having been “released “by Weymouth. Whilst at Aldershot he was s̶u̶c̶c̶e̶s̶s̶f̶u̶l̶ ̶ ̶a̶d̶e̶q̶u̶a̶t̶e̶ ̶ a nice man. Just what you need. ̶
Tommy Widdrington has been taken ill over the weekend, might be struggling on the pitch recently but nobody wants to see this Genuinely hope he makes a speedy recovery, but takes as long as he needs
Haven't listened to the interview just the tag line there, but I still don't see how this is the managers fault? Surely big man sets the budget and keeps track of it no?
It was very obvious in the summer that they were overspending. The strange thing is that Lee Harding has been a director at Braintree for over 20 years and has always been frugal at this level so I don't know why he sanctioned signings like Akinde and Effiong who would not have come cheap. A new manager surely doesn't make much difference either as those contracts will be set in stone until at least the end of the season.
"Every month we were reminding him, you're over the top, you're spending significantly more than the club can afford. It's something he was aware of." I mean, how many of the experienced NL players they have on their books are on monthly contracts? If they're over their monthly budget for September, surely they're automatically over their monthly budget for April unless they can sell players or massively increase their attendance? If I remember right, they gave Effiong a 2 year deal as well, so that contract won't be easy to get rid of.
It might not be as bad if they were actual value for money but him and Akinde are a pair of carthorses, played 40 games combined so far and only got 2 goals each, pissed their budget up the wall.
Effiong wasn’t a carthorse last two seasons, been one of the best strikers about but she’s wasn’t on his side. Easily costing them £150k with that 2 year deal. Dread to think what some of the others are earning. Harrop is a very good manager, sacking him was a big mistake and hope they get relegated now.
Waiting for Mark Moseley to rock up there he's free atm. Seriously though, if ever a club made a statement that advertised them as a poisoned chalice this is it.
Last managerial role was 11 years ago, and he's never managed higher than step 4, or outside Essex. Looks like anyone with any serious managerial pedigree has been put off by the news out of Braintree over the last week.
I think this is the same guy who had a disastrous spell in charge of Welling at this level about a decade ago?
