The problem with buses are that they are ultimately a crap mode of transport that are only used by those who can't afford or aren't able to drive. Always have been, always will be. They're slow and go all round the Wrekin just to make a short journey that would take a quarter of the time in a car. They only go where the route takes them meaning unless you're lucky to live on a route than takes you exactly to where you need, you'll usually have to change buses or walk a long way at the end to get to where you need to go. You have to wait ages for them to turn up in the cold and wet and can be cancelled last minute. They're ok for non essential social travel etc but for important things like work, medical appointments etc they're far too unreliable and take far too much time out of your day for most people.

They can just about work ok in big cities like London where there's enough demand to allow them to run regularly enough to be useable. But in smaller towns and cities it's not economical to run a service that's regular enough to allow them to be a genuine alternative to using your car. Unless as I've said you're not able to drive and have no other choice. The transport choice of last resort I always see them as.

Fair enough, though of course the price of the weekly tickets might go up now too? :hmmm

    This.

For all the crap they have been spouting trying to push people into using the public services available, raising the prices isn't exactly going to achieve that, if anything, it'll push them the opposite way.

Outside of London, you're never going to push people onto buses unless they're absolutely desperate. When you drive, your car is one of the absolute last things to go if you need to make savings because it's so crucial to your life and the alternatives are always so infinitely worse. Like buses.

If you're lucky enough to have the physical and mental ability to get a driving licence and then get through those first few years of horrendous insurance prices, you hold onto your car for dear life.

Rowley needs to resign as does the entirety of the Labour front bench whilst all the political prisoners are freed and the scum Labour released to jail said political prisoners banged back up.

This government is truly awful and already easily the worst gov of any of our lifetimes and it's not even close, they're so unfit for office it's unbelievable. We are being governed by a ruling class that doesn’t seem to give one jot about the safety and security of its citizens. Maintenance of their narrative seems to matter above all else, even if it flies in the face of reality or if people die.

There is no way Prime Minister Keir Starmer was ignorant of the details of Axel Rudakubana's case before he took to the national stage and told the British public that it was "far-right" to suggest there was an Islamic connection to this attack. Starmer not only told the British public the opposite of this, but threatened the public with "the full force of the law" for even suggesting this was the truth.

It's a huge public scandal which has involved the government, CPS & police lying. It's a scandal as severe as Bloody Sunday & Hillsborough. The highest levels of the government have been involved, including the PM a former DPP. Surely they have to go.

Meanwhile this scum gov dropped this news just in time for one of they many other lies to be revealed with the upcoming budget they're hoping to use to bury this story

    They're beyond disgusting.

These 'revelations' still don't justify any of the racist thuggery (let us not forget, including the attempted murder of migrants) we saw in August.

Have I missed something? What has triggered this reaction?

This wierd autistic lad, born in the UK, brought up in a strongly religious Christian family and church community, was charged with the horrific murders. Its a live case and investigations have led to him being charged with making Ricin and having a pdf of an al Qaeda Training Manual (probably found in the possession of multiple Tommy Robinson supporters).

The police have stated that they have not yet been able to identify the motivation for his actions but motivation is not needed to bring these extra charges. They and the Prosecuters have also warned that airing more details threatens a fair trial and chance of conviction.

Jenrick knows this but is still stirring the pot and ignoring what he knows in pursuit of a job.

Why are you ranting on @RedDevilsShinja ?

Exactly, how does everyone now know he was a Muslim and it was a massive government cover up when I personally could just go on the Darknet as a non-muslim and get the pdf of the Al-Qaeda stuff?

Mods letting RDS post a blatant example of disinformation is it?

But hey ho @TLC recently gave me the run down of the rules for posting in CA because I was mean to her. After I was previously threatened with a ban for calling zippy a Nazi.

Same for me. Yet they've managed to raise 40bn more taxes which the country desperately needs to improve public services. So gets the seal of approval from me. Seems like the money's coming from people and companies who can generally afford to pay for it.

That's basically how I see it as well. I've not found many positives from this Labour government thus far, but I can see little wrong with the announcement today. I've not looked in depth, just seen the main points, but it appears that the opposition's big claim that higher NI for businesses would impact smaller businesses has been trumped with Labour offering additional support to them as well.

I just hope that we start to see improvements in public services now and this additional money is spent wisely. I mean, they surely can't mis-spend like the Tories did.............

This country has such a strange attitude when it comes to taxation. Pointing out the tax burden is rising, but compared to many other OECD nations we aren't taxed nearly as much. We want properly funded public services but don't want to pay for it. I'd much rather live in a country with an approach similar to Denmark, than the USA.

Fuel duty frozen but rail and bus prices will go up. So backwards.

I'm sure you're all super excited about the 1p off a pint that after you've drunk 100 will save a massive £1

Spineless toothless and worthless budget from a spineless and toothless government.
