At this moment in time there appears to be an absence of factual background information re. the Southport murderer's background, with Home Secretary Yvette Cooper not really clarifying anything but saying: “The most important thing is to get justice for Bebe, Alice and Elsie and their heartbroken families, and all those affected by the attack and nobody should put that at risk. “The police and prosecutors have an important job to do in their investigation, pursuing every avenue and taking the action they need to ahead of the trial. “We must support them and ensure that everything possible is done to deliver justice.” Some outlets have interpretted the news that the murderer had a PDF of a notorious terrorist manual as indication that he was a "muslim terrorist" all along. I haven't seen any proof of that, nor any official denial of it either, so personally I am not inclined to start deleting speculation either way at this point. All that said, if there is in fact official information that this particular murderer wasn't either politically or religiously motivated then posts like the one you refer to will be deleted. If you want to challenge the claims made in a member's post, do it - challenge away. I'm not interested in making the moderation of a hobby site a full-time occupation, so if I or others in the team are going to fact-check it will be in the capacity of a user challenging another user, not in the capacity of moderator or admin. We will step in where we see people throwing insults at each other, but if someone is simply chatting shit I expect the wider community to have the gumption to call them out on it without expecting us to.
