They've got 12 points from their 10 league games which isn't a great return from a reasonable start fixture wise. The win against Palace was a bit of a robbery as well and losing 3-0 at home to Spurs last week who'd played away in Europe 3 days earlier (as had Palace). The lack of a goal threat striker is killing them though because they aren't a bad team. Missing Branthwaite at the back as well, although Keane has done okay on the whole. Great start for Sunderland, another decent point.
Battered them second half. Would have been a travesty if they knicked that at the end. Draw probably fair. 71% of the earth is covered by water. The rest is covered by Granit Xhaka.
Proper game of 2 halves. Everton could & probably should have been streets ahead of us at HT but we weathered the storm & came back a team possessed. Much, much better 2nd half and only one side was going to win it. I’d have taken a draw beforehand but we cannot complain at our start after 10 games. We are 4th in the Premier League, wow.
Seriously? You were playing a mediocre team that can buy goals and had only won 3 from their 9 previous league games, and had you won you'd have gone 2nd. And you were at home. If I were a Sunderland fan, newly promoted or not, I wouldn't have taken a draw after the start you've had. These are the type of games you need to be winning in order to finish top half as this form you're in won't last.
There was 2 moments from Alcaraz will want to forget in a hurry, he screws up the 2 v 1 chance, and then gets another good chance to get Everton away and he passes the ball behind his own players and out for a throw in. A draw was probably a fair result, but Everton should have done better with there chances in the first half before they were dominated in the 2nd half, but Sunderland didn't really make any decent chances apart from there goal.
They need 40 points. Get them and then worry about top half. Priority is staying up. It might be 2 dropped but it's also 1 gained from a losing position.
I'm talking about taking a point before kick off, not after they'd gone behind. Given the comparative positions and form before the game, and Sunderland being at home, I'm simply surprised any Sunderland fan wouldn't have gone into the game disappointed if they'd ended up with a point.
I see Pagnells point tbh, after getting a good result last weekend against much superior opposition away from home, that should have been enough momentum and confidence to take it to a Everton side, I think I would have been confident in getting a result against them at home. I'd understand the draw beforehand if they were away from home. As it happens, it was a tale of 2 halves, and the draw was about the right result. Sunderland should be happy with that point considering Everton could have easily ran out 3-1 winners if Barry hadn't missed that sitter and Alcaraz messing up that 2 v 1 opportunity.
Yes seriously. Irrespective of your recent form we are still a newly promoted side riding the crest of a wave & we have never had a good record against Everton, especially a one led by David Moyes. We only need to be winning games to stay up, anything else is a bonus. Myself & @SJ have joked about a title / European push but of course we are only concerned about safety.
I think any point is still a positive one unless they're playing maybe Burnley, Leeds or at the moment Wolves at home, as they're the games they need to be winning. They've already got a cushion and just need to keep picking up points. Everton are never an easy team to play against unless they're away at a top side where they typically have a terrible record. Their away record under Moyes last season was really good and although they'd only won of their 4 away games this season, they had played away at City and Liverpool. The likes of Grealish, Ndiaye and Dewsbury Hall are really good PL players who can hurt teams. Lack of a goalscorer obviously holding them back.
