Leave him in Liverpool's squad. 4th choice Midfielder IMO (Henderson (first only because he's the captain), Fabinho, Thiago, Keita, Elliott, Ox, Carvalho, Jones, Milner)
Nah, I've supported Keita for a while, always stuck up for him when other fans have tore into him but this has to be the final nail in his Liverpool career...its just ridiculous now how often he gets injured. Even Sturridge wasnt this bad. We did get a few seasons out of Sturridge where he earned his corn. Sell him, get whatever we can, release Ox too, he's just a waste of time, nice lad, decent player on his day, but is of no use to us any more. Im ****ing sick of us not having players to rely on. Thiago is injury prone too, but you know he'll give you 25+ excellent games during the season and is worth the wait....in the meantime we need reliable players to come in when Thiago gets his inenvitable knocks. I also think it maybe a good time to sell Jones, given young English players are going for outrageous fees right now, lets get some good money for him...he too is too injury prone and unreliable.
Agree with the sentiment above. The annoying thing is you can’t really complain about our midfield in terms of quality it’s just our midfield is ridiculously injury prone especially for the style of football we play. I said this time and time again that our biggest problems are Ox and Keita. Granted Henderson and Thiago are getting on a bit and along with Fabinho will naturally miss games through the season, we need the other midfielders to be available. If we break down our midfield by age profile, we’ve got Henderson, Thiago and Milner as the older heads. We’ve got Elliot, Jones and Carvalho as the younger players and then in their prime years we’ve got Fabinho, Ox and Keita. Ox and Keita are never getting ahead of Thiago and Henderson in terms of quality but should at least be available so rotate them so we can keep them fresh. These 2 wasters really need to be sold on as soon as we can feasibly get rid of them. Being in your peak years and essentially always injured is a joke. Also Jones is fast becoming unreliable too. Still young so hopefully he sorts out his injury issues but as a squad player you should be doing your absolutely best to make sure you’re fit and ready to go should the opportunity arise. He seems to be missing those opportunities regularly! I don’t see us bringing anyone in though so hopefully Carvalho and Elliot push on as it looks like we’ll have to rely on them a lot more than we should be doing.
I wish we didn't let our gingernut CB go out on loan tbh. With the injuries we alread have in that department I'd have liked to keep him around for some extra cover. He could have got cup games as well to see how he's progressing.
With Phillips staying I'm ok with it, Sepp had a good loan spell at Preston but regular first team football will benefit Sepp a lot more imo. Would like to see him get that experience physically at a decent level as that is definitely a question mark I have over him, and his best work at Preston seemed to come at RWB and we've got Trent & Ramsay there now.
Jones, Matip & Ramsay back. Jota back in training tomorrow according to Klopp & Nunez's ban over. But Henderson out injured.
Cant wait to see Ramsey in action, hopefully another inspired Andy Robertson esque buy. Could give Trent a much needed break
Keita needs to go, fed up with him now. Awful with injuries, hit and miss when he does play. I expected huge things when he signed but as far as I'm concerned he's a flop. Get rid. Ox........ not sure I really need to say anything that hasn't been said by everyone a million times over. He's pulling £120k a week out of the club to keep the physios happy. Another one who needs to be shown the door. Jones... yeah he's a local boy etc but for me isn't good enough, too slow on the ball. Love Thiago, I could watch that man playing football all day long... but he's prone to picking up knocks. Henderson.... another one who has a habit of picking up injuries. As proven again last night. Fabinho has looked well off it (like many others) in the opening few games, particularly against Fulham he was so slow. Elliot and Carvalho are the goods, brilliant young talents. YOUNG however being the key word. We can't rely on two youngsters week in week out. Elliot however has been our best player so far this season and Carvalho is making an impact from the bench. Needs to get rid of the tache though. We're getting every single last ounce out of Milner. I love the man but you can't be challenging for league titles whilst starting a 37 year old Ribena addict. Looks like we're finally going to get a loan deal over the line for Arthur at Juve now. Another crock by all appearances which seems to fit our MO. On the whole, not really good enough is it....
In terms of sheer numbers we're well stocked, but it's not that simple. There are 4 we need to, or will have to, move on from in the next year, Ox, Keita, Milner & Henderson, which leaves us with Fab, Thiago, Elliott, Jones & Carvalho. I rate Jones a lot higher than some, but yeah, not someone you can be ready to build a midfield around. Thiago & probably Fab you have to start the long term succession of too. Two more in next year for the long term which they can track over the next year with this Arthur loan. One has to be able to play the 6 & both roles of the 8s. Keep Henderson for his intangibles in the role Milner's supposed to have now but have more reliable players ahead of him.
Big issue is you cannot play many of them together and expect to have any balance. Fabinho and Thiago are the only ones who can provide any real balance in there so once one (or both) of them are out then you're in trouble.
Keita can too, he's just never seemingly available when we need him. Quality wise he's fine, availability & his contract situation are the issues.
I still feel Keita is dependant on who he is with. If it is Keita alongside Jones and Elliott then that would be a struggle. Still needs someone who is adept at sitting and reading the play. Henderson could do that, doesn't seem to care much for it so far this season though.
It's Lijnders, he wants TAA to play more centrally even if it means keeping Salah on the touchline. Reading the passage from his book where he talks about TAA being a centre midfielder in his youth team confirms it.
Defo a Lijnders influence. It's not just Trent, both full backs are being tasked with coming inside more, Diaz also has the wider role on the other side. It's more pronounced on the right and Salah being away from the goal more is also more noticeable for us
