Thiago has decided to retire from football. What a shame. Such a wonderful footballer.

It's a shame that injuries robbed him from a proper career.

An absolute joy to watch whenever I seen him play ,technically superb with a football brain that was unfortunately jumps more advanced than the players he shared a pitch with. Life being about quality rather than quantity and it was a privilege to have witnessed that quality wearing a red shirt.

It's a shame that his body let him down, because it would have been nice to have seen a lot more of him and his quality, and the games that we lost, or drew because it was those games that we were screaming for someone of his quality to break down those stubborn blocks. A true talent.

51? He played 98, although not nearly enough, most of the games he did play he was the best player on the pitch.

Only played 25 games (7 PL games) less than your hero John Stones in the 4 seasons he was at Liverpool, hardly Kalvin Phillips territory :)

So I guess Stones been stealing a living last 4 seasons?

We had a few real moments out of thiago but let's face it, a yard dog assaulted him in the derby and the medical staff got the decisions wrong so he's never been right.

That goal where it literally skimmed but never touched the ground was worth the entry fee anywhere.

Was right in line with him striking that and still no idea how he did it! A gorgeous footballer, put on some of my favourite displays I've seen in a long long while, just wish his body would've allowed us to see more as I've no doubt we'd have been even better over his time here.

Good on him ,I'd do exactly the f*cking same in defending my family.

President of Uruguayan Football Association defends Nunez
While there was no escaping of the fact that Nunez’s actions will likely end in him being punished president of the AUF, Ignacio Alonso, said that the players acted in the best interest of their families’ safety. Alonso said (via ESPN): “The Uruguayan players had an instinctive, natural reaction, which was to defend the children who were being attacked, their wives, parents, siblings. It was a natural, instinctive reaction that was rational given the events that were taking place.”

Although there is not yet confirmation of any ban being imposed on Nunez, he will likely be reprimanded for his behaviour in the stands. Whether any punishment could extend to club football remains to be seen. However, the 25-year-old may be set for a lengthy period away from international football.

These club/countries always seem to **** up places for the families to sit.
