Arne Slot was asked about his Nunez's confidence and it how it is affecting his composure. “That’s your perception and maybe the perception of other people as well, but it’s not my perception that he’s struggling with self-confidence,” Slot retorted back to the reporter. “He was involved against Accrington Stanley in the first goal again as well, he was involved in the goal against Fulham that Jota scored, and he scored one against Southampton. “I think after that it wasn’t that he had many starts, one time maybe, I don’t know exactly. “For me, it’s the life of a striker. Sometimes you score, sometimes you don’t, and he hasn’t started every single game. “The most important thing for me is, we as a team, are able to score every single game – except for the Tottenham one, I’m not sure if it was the only one game we’ve played that we didn’t score.”
Always been my outlook on football, personally couldnt give a shit who scores as long as we win. If Nunez played 38 games, failed to score a single goal and we won the league I'd be over the moon.
I think what people are missing is Slot's game is all about the team ,at Feyenoord practically every player on the pitch was tasked with scoring goals. Slot's message is it's very much the strength of the players working as a team that's most important to him and only then can you enjoy the cohesion that follows and allows all those components to fit together almost seamlessly and act as one single engine. I don't think he's attained that level yet with this team ,but I'm excited for what we can achieve when he finally does.
Yup, whilst its great seeing players like Salah clocking up records, the be all and end all is the team winning pots. nothing more, nothing less, if Nunez contributes to doing this then he's not the failure many seem to make out he is.
Darwin Nunez has 63 G/A for Liverpool in all comps, he's started 73 games. Cody Gakpo has 47 G/A for Liverpool in all comps, he's started 74 games. Luis Diaz has 47 G/A for Liverpool in all comps, he's started 94 games.
Dunno if anyone has mentioned it, but loving Chiesa's attitude the last few weeks, whilst it would be easy for him to be feeling sorry for himself and maybe not a proper member of the squad, he looks well and truly intergrated, watching his celebrations to goals of ours last couple of games has been superb So want him to get fully fit as we all know he's an absolute class player.
It'll be criminal if we allow Konate to go into his last year of his contract. I'd give him what he wants because he has a big future, and would be difficult to replace.
Do any Liverpool fans on here rate Kluivert? I never thought he'd have become as good as he has he's really surprising me at the moment. With Jota being badly injury prone and Nunez being hit and miss I think i'd take him at Liverpool.
Better finisher than Nunez. Been watching Danns for a couple years scoring at will for the academy, Looking forward to seeing him regular in the first team.
The argument is that a striker is paid to score goals. Take his chances 7 or 8 out of 10 times. Nunez misses a great many goal scoring chances despite all his other "attributes". In a season when you are sitting 6 points clear at the top, with a game in hand, it can be brushed over. If we get into a real title race, then the pain of missed chances becomes more acute.
And so what? 2 wrongs don’t make it right. Find this hard to believe personally. Not saying I don’t, but just on evidence of what I’ve seen. Not sure Diaz chances are of the simpler variety either. I’d like to see this statistically. In fairness, Diaz was also not bought to score goals.
