    Logically you'd think so. But if it were that simple surely anyone with a lead would just distance themselves for the last 10 seconds to protect their lead? I'm no taekwondo expert and don't know much about the rules but I suspect there must be more to it than that.

    Dressage is the one thing I've never been able to even feign interest in. Everything else in the Olympics grips me to some extent, but that...nope.

    Georgia Taylor browns silver was exceptional last night. She lost nearly half a minute on the leaders when she got a flat back tire with 2km to go in the bikes. Could she have won the gold without the flat?

    It's on now as I turned the TV back on. Tried watching it for a bit and the commentator suddenly "oh no that was a mistake there!". I was baffled as she was doing exactly the same thing she'd been doing for 5 minutes.

    Also am I right in saying that Ireland compete as one, Republic and Northern, which is why we're Team GB and not UK?

    Same. Pretty much anything horse related bores me to be honest but the dressage in particular is just mind numbing. At least the show jumping there's some jeopardy with being able to crash into the bars and it's clear what the objective is. Get round the course in the quickest time whilst accumulating the least penalties. Dressage is just pointless prancing around on a horse.

    Dominant performance in the swimming relay. Only the heat admittedly but bodes well.

    Very decent bronze in the gymnastics- particularly as there has been a lot of controversy about the selection policy.

    The favourite for the men's 200m freestyle swimming lost out to an Englishman. Pity. Not sure he looked happy in an interview I saw but he was wearing a mask

    It's amazing that shooting is an Olympic sport but darts isn't allowed. Just as skillful. Actually more technique involved and they move more
