it was king kennys philosophy that was never good enough...he though that over paid over priced brits was the way forward and it clearly wasnt...

however had kenny taken over from rafa direct without dogson in the middle things would have been different...

Gerrard has not been fully fit for two seasons now so that kinda voids your point. You seem to constantly ignore his performances and attitude over the last two seasons.

As it stands Gerrard has done nothing for us in two seasons bar the odd game so doesn't warrant been a guaranteed starter anymore, and for me it is now time to fase him out and allow the youngsters to play a bigger part. That isn't saying get rid of Gerrard, it means use him to the clubs want and needs, not his.

With his performance at the Euros, it looks clear for all to see that Gerrard is now fully fit. He was one of the best players at the tournament this year, and quite easily England's stand out performer. Based on that alone he should be given one more season as a guaranteed starter.

There does come a point where you phase out the old guard to make way for younger players, but when your younger players haven't shown any real potential and your older player is the best player in your squad, your captain and the only real game changer in the team, then the time to phase them out hasn't arrived.

Would Clint Dempsey get any of you Liverpool lads excited? Can imagine that FSG would be very interested in having an American at the club, although I struggle to see where he would play.

Not particularly no. As you say, he'd struggle to fit in and is pushing 30.

If the owners have real ambition they won't be wasting £5-10m on him, even if he is American

Id like to see Sterling and Robinson get some more regular games as well

I still don't believe he is fully fit, the Italy game was the proof of that. At his age he'll probably never look fully fit again though. And yes he was our best player at the tournament but that should not guarantee him a start for the season at club level, it really shouldn't.

I disagree, the time has come to begin phasing Gerrard out. He isn't our best player, the captaincy is irrelevant and when was the last time he changed a game bar the derby? There is plenty of potential in Shelvey and Henderson so i don't know where you say they haven't shown any real potential from is beyond me.

I love Gerarrd and he has been a simply outstanding player for us, there is no praise high enough, but regardless of that ...going on his most recent club form and attitude and his age/fitness etc the next few seasons should be about phasing him out.

I don't see why we **** about so much in the transfer market. This deal should have be wrapped up weeks ago.

Although this might soften the blow of missing out on Gylfi.

Gazzetta dello Sport and Sky Italia are running stories confirming Liverpool have made a bid of £15m for Bologna's Gaston Ramirez #LFC 1 hour ago

Apparently Spurs offered a couple of million more than we were prepared to pay, oh well, nevermind, not like we're missing out on a world class talent :shrug

Personally never heard of him, What position does he play and is he a player that can be beneficial?

True that there are better players available, but he could have been a great acquisition had we wrapped up this deal a few weeks ago as he is used to playing under Rodgers and so he'll have no problem settling in...i hoped.

I heard that too! hoped it was just a rumor, going to be very annoyed if you guys have! Very promising talent but if he joins, does that make way for Modric to Madrid perhaps? I personally don't believe Madrid have an interest in him (Ozil and Kaka have that position tied up) at all but a lot of sources are saying an offer has been made

    ----------------------Lucas-----------------Gerrard-------------------

    ----------Downing-------------------------------------Suarez---------

    SUBS:
    Doni
    Sterling
    Maxi (please stay)
    Bellamy (see above brackets)
Coates (if Skrtel is still here)
+ 2 others. (I flat out refuse to accept Henderson and Adam will be Liverpool players next year.)

If Skrtel goes then sub in Coates and if that Ramirez fella arrives then sub him in for Downing. I'd prefer we used our 2 full backs as wing backs (He runs down the wing and his name is McAteer, heeeeeeeey McAteer!). It would maximise their attacking ability without exposing their defensive frailties. I know nothing about this but I'd give it a whirl.

Although it's hard to judge a player from a YouTube montage, he does looks like he could do a relatively good job to be fair and seems to have a good attacking vision as well as reaction times. Although it also seems like he can lose possession fairly quickly.

What do you think of him?

Anyone else excited at the prospect of Joey Cole returning I’ve watched some clips of his performances for Lille he’s done well lets hope Rogers can get the best out of him I was genially disappointed when he was loaded out last year.

He was ok at Lille, did reasonably well but overall that was about it.

I have very little hope for Cole so anything decent from him would be a bonus for me.
