Why would the American people re-elect this narcissist again?

But why also would anyone want a Democrat in office again, either?

Both candidates, both parties, a different flavour of the same thing. A political machine serving the interests of capital and imperialism.

Would have preferred Kamala, if only because she’s predictable, but the next four years would have looked miserable for the US and the world regardless of who came in.

It is almost certain Russia would have had free reign to attack a defenceless Ukraine if he had been in power. Not sure if that is a good thing.

Trump was the person who made an agreement and set a deadline for US leaving Afghanistan. That was on him.

If he was in power chances are Israel would have done more damage to Gaza and neighbouring countries. Not sure if that is a positive in the long run either.

    ???? Afghanistan?

You want to check the records on tjat one mate.

It'll be fine. Just dig in and endure the tariffs cos the UK will get them just like everyone else. What they do to their own people and immigrants is their business l. It doesn't actually affect anyone in Europe.

It's the damage that's about to be done on the environmental front that will be felt in 20 years time that is the issue. We can't avoid that situation.

Just heard him say that he is putting an antivaxxer in charge of health. :fail:

Also, I don't know whether it's done, but Minnesota State House doesn't look good on Walz.
Clearly Walz wasn't a great choice. Don't know how much he was restrained as Marty said before, cause when he started he was vocal & that seemed like a perfect counter to both Vance & Trump. But eventually we saw less or quieter version of him, & it all just seemed awkward at times.

On a side note, Kari Lake losing is really funny.
Most likely JD Vance vs Whitmer.

On a side note, trying to find pieces on Susie Wiles. Apparently was with De Santis before.

RFK Jr. His dad is one of my heroes and will be turning in his grave

I don't really think the VP choices have had a impact at all to be honest. If it came down to Pennsylvania and Harris just fell short you could argue not picking Shapiro was the shocking mistake but the size of victory I don't think it mattered.

I really can't see JD Vance being the nominee unless he goes in as the incumbent but who knows based on what has happened the last 10 years.

Not sure on the environmental front considering his relationship with Elon.
Fact is Musk will surely be aware of the power requirements that will be required to facilitate the AI wave that is rapidly expanding.
Feel like one positive is that could actually kick-start the movement to introducing smaller scale nuclear power which realistically, is probably the cleanest way to address the growing power consumption required to facilitate a tech heavy and electricity hungry movement.

The tech industry is going in that direction I think a fair few companies have already planned their own facilities to facilitate their consumption and if it is shown to be stable and beneficial there, I could imagine it paves the way for a wider implementation.

Fully expect to see a more positive PR image painted around nuclear the next couple of years compared to the doomsday image it's had the last few decades

Politics in general is just depressing and Europeans will take comfort in it being different here but with how divisive social media and public opinion has been in recent years I'm not convinced it would be.

I'm a positive, optimistic person with a lifelong belief that the majority of people in this world are good but that belief gets tested on days like today. My faith in people is low this morning.

Playing the 1 in 2 game is thoroughly depressing. That's essentially what we're talking about. Break it down little by little.

330 million Americans, 165 million Trump supporters.

If you have 8,700 Twitter followers, 4,350 of them massively contradict your values and beliefs.
    2,000 Instagram followers - 1,000 l.
    200 Facebook friends, 100.
    100 active / regular FF posters - 50
80 work colleagues in the office this morning - 40
    20 relatives at Thanksgiving - 10

1-1 - it's not me so it must be you?

Unfortunately social media doesn't work like that. It tends to shove people further into their own echo chamber and makes you think everyone agrees with you and you must be right. Makes online discourse difficult.

Oh I realise that and I'm sure that's actually reflected in some of those numbers being more skewed towards one direction than it being an even 50-50 but on results like this you do question and perhaps personalise it a bit more.

Politics has felt very divided in recent years with Trump and Brexit and whatever else and it's just baffling to me where people's values / morals are when voting.

I've personally got a pending immigration application to see if I can move to the US and truthfully I don't think the presidential change will really affect that decision but it's still interesting that 1 in 2 feel so strongly on certain issues that I'll potentially be moving to.
