Mixed feelings, at this point. Still bitter neighbours, but lately they used to win against Madrid and Atlético, which was good for us (direct rivals dropping points). Their Chinese CEO is driving them backwards; he's turning them into a nothing club, when they should be fighting for a Conference League spot.
It's the outside that needs renovating more than the inside. Looks like an ugly concrete block when walking along it! Where will you play during the works? Still in the stadium or Montjuic?
Yes, the very brutalist exterior is going to get a complete facelift. (We'll be playing at Montjuic at the very least until Xmas '24, but knowing Laporta, until summer 2025).
Saw a video of said facelifting and it seems there's going to be a roof on it! Now I hate Barça with a passion but changing the Nou Camp to look like any other soulless bowl makes the traditionalist in me a bit sad. Can't imagine what the socios think (maybe they don't give a toss).
I'm glad Barça is making you sad, because that's the way I like it: joy to Barça fans; but nothing but hatred/anxiety/sadness for our detractors; in general.
Rafa Benitez apparently close to taking over Celta Vigo. Rafa Benitez close to becoming new Celta Vigo manager Rafa Benitez is close to becoming the new manager of Celta Vigo. The 63-year-old is on the verge of moving to the La Liga club after turning down offers to manage in Saudi Arabia. The Spaniard has been eager to get back into management following his dismissal from Everton in January of last year and has been looking for an appropriate project to take on in one of the top five European leagues. Benitez was linked to West Ham United and Leicester City last season but is now set to return to his native country. Celta Vigo, who finished 13th in La Liga in 2022-23, have been on the lookout for a new manager since Carlos Carvalhal left his position by mutual consent earlier this month.
Problems for Real & Barca here... The future revenues % they've been selling off is being defined as debt by FFP, both clubs at major risk of failing it now.
In a world full of ridiculous transfer fees and wages, Santi Cazorla signs for his boyhood club Real Oviedo on the minimum wage allowed by LaLiga 2 Just noticed he’s been in Qatar for a few years so he definitely doesn’t need the money but still decent nonetheless
Bellingham scores again. Generational talent. Did kiss the badge, though, which marks him down slightly.
La Liga to sponsor Welsh club Clwb Pel Droed Llanfairpwllgwyngyllchwyrndrobwlllanttysiliogogogoch from Anglesey. Try saying that after a few pints. Actually try saying that stone cold sober.
I noticed that Mason Greenwood came on as a sub for Getafe in their 3-2 win v Osasuna today , not sure if he's still a Man U player & or just loaned .
really hope they fail as they are engaged in self harm they are of.course already harming the other clubs by hoovering up all the money.
Atletico v Real on ITV 4 tonight . Goodness knows what some of the antics in that game will be like !
I can only imagine if the refs in Spain are similar to here in England & with play acting & all the other shenanigans that go on in Spanish football they'll be millions of extra minutes played at the end , I'll be watching though to see Bellingham bag a 99th minute winner .
I watched the highlights of Barca - Celta Vigo (will be following them this season for Rafa). Gotta feel for Celta Vigo who gave up that lead late in the game. They actually had more chances in both halves to score even more.
Athletico 2 up after 20 mins & playing all the football & looking to score more rather than sit & defend their lead like they normally do , fancy more goals to come .
