Hot on the heels of Jota signing on, it appears we have finally cracked the Ramon Sosa deal as well with just the medical and the paperwork to be finalised. A player very highly regarded by those journos who follow South American football. I have to say, whilst I don't pretend to have much knowledge of a lot of these players, this change in style when it comes to transfer business is impressing me. Talleres basically tried to bully us into paying more than we wanted to but we held firm, even seeming to generate a solid backup plan with Wesley, and left the ball in their court. There definitely seems to be a move towards the South American leagues where it is very easy to pick up players on the cheap, comparable to Europe, and thus ensuring they will have some form of sell on value. Having got the house in order with PSR by selling Niakhate and Mangala this summer, we are clearly playing a different game now and anticipating ways to generate large profits from as few players as possible. £22 million for these 2 players today, both of whom come with good reviews, is some great business
Yeah the transfer strategy of the club has changed massively and definitely for the better. There actually seems to be a plan in place now, when we came up we all the situation with about 6 senior players so there was always going to be an insane amount of business but it was all very haphazard. One minute looking for value from Europe, the next giving huge money to players arguably past their best. Not all these signings will work out I'm sure but it's good that we're clearly doing our homework and not just spunking money on anyone with a pulse. The eventual profit on Murillo alone will allow us to take punts on about 7/8 more promising players from outside the usual top leagues.
Never seemed the happiest on the pitch but then we weren’t that good most of the he was here or got kicked around a lot . Probably didn’t help he was young and wasn’t fluent in English and actually hardly played at first after being signed . Nigel Pearson got the best out of him and Munoz in our promotion season as they gave him confidence I think .
The Emile Smith Rowe saga drags on, but most media say it's a done deal for £27m + 7m The Andre from Fluminense deal has stuttered to a holt with Scott McTominay's name now coming into a lot of media outlets quoting United wanting a fee of £30m to be paid, Fulham wanting to pay around £20m Not confirmed but Jorge Cuenca 24 LCB Villareal - €6.3m fee with Barcelona receiving % of any fee.
Emile Smith Rowe finally signed Good signing, let's hope he gets back to his full potential under Marco Silva Hope to see him in the attacking midfield role than Fabio Carvalho use to play under Marco Silva, breaking through midfield and running forward with the ball creating and scoring goals.
Feels like the perfect player to suit your style. And if anyone can get the best out of a player like Rowe, it's a manager like Silva. I suspect you're going to have an entertaining season! Whether it's successful remains to be seen but entertaining I think it will be
Smith-Rowe feels like a great signing for that price. If he shows any kind of form could easily be sold for a lot more. Assume wages were the main reason a lot of other clubs weren’t interested.
Think Arsenal bought in players when he got injured and it was hard for him to break back into the side, so he got a bit demotivated in end.
Jorge Cuenca has been confirmed. Left Centre Back from Villarreal . This may mean Tim Ream will now move back to the MLS to Charlotte FC.
Somerville is a really good signing. Looks like we’re getting guido Rodriguez on a bosman and fulkrug for 20-25m. Happy with both of those as well. I know fulkrug is 30 or 31, but he’ll definitely improve us next year and he doesn’t appear to have much pace to lose.
Torn with Fulkrug. Really wanted to see him in the Prem as I think he's tailor made for it, but now annoyed he's going to a rival! Think he'll do well.
Yeah I think he will as well. And with sommerville, kudus, pacquetta and Bowen as wide forwards, he should get plenty of service.
