We did we bought a Danish midfielder for £1M that was given to the club by our owner not loaned or we'd be up shit creek with The FFP rules, problem is he only played 2 games before he became seriously ill in early March so missed the rest of the season.
Tickets for the home leg sold out save for any season ticket seats that haven’t yet been purchased, any remaining go on general sale in the morning, doubt there are many. Hopefully they can give half the Jimmy Seed to home fans as doubt Wycombe bring 3k. Potential to be a special night down there, it’s been too long.
Enjoy your night , our 2nd half of relentless pressure v Oxford last May seems a very distant memory with the sh*te we've served up this season , as much as Brum & Wrexham must have enjoyed promotion beating Huddersfield at Old Trafford & being promoted via the play offs is the most euphoric way of doing things a feeling 1 of the 4's fanbase will get to experience .
It’s definitely the best way to do it but the worst way to miss out. Just seen we’ve given Wycombe 3.1k tickets which seems a bit silly to me. Though I do suspect they won’t sell them all and we’ll release some extra home tickets with a couple of days to go.
I think Wycombe took around 2-2.5k to Fake Dons a few years ago in a play off because Fake Dons split Wycombe's supporters into 2 groups with the middle top section partitioned off & they took 15k to Wembley in the Tinpot Trophy last year so the support is there even if probably many of them feel they've missed their chance . No one is talking about the O's , the dark horses !
Last season we basically got promoted at MK with three games to go, they were pushing in to the automatics but we battered em 4-1 and they limited our away following to 3600 odd and split us up in the stadium. Cowards!
There will be thousands left on general sale on Wednesday. Hopefully the away tickets get to me on Wednesday at 11 so I can get my mate one
Pretty sure Wycombe have spent more than us. Our manager and DOF said at the start of the season we had a budget around 10th in the division. Yes, we’re heavily bankrolled but we’ve still overachieved.
Good Luck in the playoffs Orient, what a run to pip us to sixth. You go in with all the momentum. For us it wasn't to be sadly, but with our horrendous playoff final record, we've saved ourselves the playoff misery and heartache. I see it being an all London affair with a Charlton v Leyton Orient playoff final, I couldn't call that one.
The Stocks will provide a hard test, their record in the second half of the season is excellent with only 3 defeats, we go into the games in good form ourselves having lost only 1 of our last 10 I think and winning our last 6 to somehow scrape into 6th. We have nothing to lose, whether we go up or not half of our team won't be here next season as all the decent payers we have will return to their parent clubs or be sold. Personally, I don't think we're anywhere near ready for the step up. We usually reach the finals of the playoffs but buckle in the finals.
Away leg sold out, and the home leg is very very close to selling out. Only single seats available. Minus what Wycombe haven't sold of course, which is like 2k I've counted 104 tickets left as of 1:20pm.
It's our first season back at this level for fifteen years, County fans also largely regarding this as a free hit, obviously nobody would say no to promotion but no sleep lost if we lose. Particularly given our awful record at Wembley.
King Ken Charlery can vouch for a part of the awful Wembley record . Feel a bit for Charlton fans with a 6.30 kick off on a Sunday .
For a shift worker, 6.30 on a Sunday is a great KO time, best day in the boozer watching the other games then a play off game on the night, I’d love that. Appreciate the logistics for travelling fans, but even so I’d be all over that.
Travelling is fine, it’s only 30 mins out of Marylebone, it’s the trying to get out of bed Monday morning for work that’s going to be the problem!
Don’t I know. One of the worst days following Sunderland against you a few years back & then one of the best a couple of years later. Never felt euphoria like it when the FT whistle blew against Wycombe.
Like to see Charlton go up, a great away day, and Charlton are deffo a championship club in size and history. Goid luck to them.
