If Agüero stays for another 5 seasons, and more importantly stays fit for the majority of them, I fancy him to overtake Henry as the highest scoring foreigner. In fact, I'd back him to get to 200 in those circumstances.
105 at moment , if Pep only stays his contract i think Aguero may go home then, 8 years 170 league goals plus at moment hes on 142 in all comps so add in cup comps could be Citys highest ever goalscorer, take some beating that in the era of not staying long.Hes 6 behind Franny Lee (6th) and 10 behind Billy Meredith (5th) , top scorer is Eric Brook on 177 so that would be next season unless he has a 41/42 goal season whicj=h i doubt.
I would also add that Drogba offered other qualities like holding the ball up and creating chances for others, which made him valuable even when he wasn't scoring. Even during his first couple of seasons at Chelsea when he wasn't that prolific, he was still very important in as the focal point of Chelsea's attack.
Havent won a home game in August since Darren Bent 90th minute pen vs City in 2010 (long journey home that was)
No idea what the full list is. I do remember Clough being something like that. His career was also cut short by injury so could of ended up even better.
Jimmy Greaves 357 in 517 games Steve Bloomer 314 in 536 games Dixie Dean 310 in 362 games Gordon Hodgson 287 in 456 games Alan Shearer 283 in 559 games Charlie Buchan 257 in 482 games Nat Lofthouse 255 in 452 games Joe Bradford 248 in 410 games Hughie Gallacher 246 in 355 games Joe Smith 243 in 410 games Brian Clough had 251 goals in 274 games but all but 3 games were in 2nd flight.
What makes Shearer's goalscoring more impressive is the fact that he's done it when high scoring games weren't the norm. He's done it when there's typically been lower scoring games to every other name on that list.
Exactly the type of player Arsenal have been lacking for 10 or so years now. No coincidence that they've won next to nothing in that time frame. Now a days, football in general is too hung up on stats. Drogba's goal scoring stats aren't great but he was a top and important player for a hugely successful Chelsea side.
Also, not a coincidence Drogba came back, won another title and then Chelsea weren't the same after he left again. Aside from that - 10 finals, 10 goals, 10 trophies.
I can see that leadership quality in Kane, I think he'll stay with us for a while but if Madrid come sniffing who knows. He's on 49 goals in 87 premier league games so far so still a long way to go to even hit the top ten but if he stays in the league I really think he has a chance to challenge Shearer's record
Hate to break it to you mate, but by 23 (Kane's age) several young strikers had a lot more. Robbie Fowler had 92 Premier League goals, Owen had 83 and there are others like Rooney (had about 70)? Yet none got near Shearers record. Kane has had a fantastic two seasons, but form and injuries will always have their say. Its far far far too early for suggesting he could break Shearers record or even get anywhere near it. The strange thing about Shearers record is until he hit about 22/23 himself he'd not been a prolific striker at all. Just 23 goals in 118 games for his first five seasons. People seem to think when Dalglish bought him for Blackburn he was already the real deal. Seem to remember a crazy stat like this for Bale when he was at Spurs??? Wasn't it something like 25 games before he won a game playing for them?
Leadership, Kane? If by leadership you mean posting pictures of lions on social media and making a **** of himself then yeah sure .
When that stat got made public it really affected Bale. I remember his first win and he said he was so relieved.
Stupid stat that the press made a huge fuss about. By the point the press kept going on about it Harry should have had him on as an injury time sub in a game we were comfortable in just to break the stupid record. That one incident means he isn't a leader? I could pinpoint several leaders who've made a **** of themselves. You need look no further than Anfield for one of the most comical incidents of a leader making a **** of himself in a title challenge.
