A thread for the lot who have been promoted from League 1 and fellow champ sides who have nowt to play for...... Any rumours for clubs yet ? I see Jonathan bond linked with Bristol, Blackburn & Swansea on a free as it looks like we will release him. Also noticed Coventry signed someone from villa yesterday...
No chance we’ll sign Bond we already have 3 good keepers on our books. Looked like an agent link to me that tweet. O’Hare joined Cov, great signing on a free surprised Villa haven’t kept him on. We’ve not really been linked with anyone, naturally given our managerial situation.
Bellingham in Dortmund to sign a deal. £25m? Poor blues gaffer whoever it will be, will be lucky to barely have a quarter of it in summer. I'm guessing this deal will pay of debts ?
Superb stuff for Jude, absolutely chuffed for the lad, and fair play for having the bollocks to go somewhere like Dortmund instead of taking the safe option and signing for United then being farmed out on loan somewhere. Gives me and the lad an excuse (like we need it!!!) to go and have another weekend or two in the wonderful city of Dortmund!!! We won’t see a penny of the money, but you get used to that having spent so long being owner by absolute shysters.
We'll be linked with a few keepers I reckon, as our 1st choice is an on loan keeper and reserve is out of contract this summer so we ideally need two to come in.
QPR have accepted a £4m bid from Belgian champions Club Brugge for forward Bright Osayi-Samuel. On sky transfer center, surprised no English sides have gone in for that fee
I'm surprised a Belgian club has that much money tbh unless they have a wealthy owner or have generated alot through player sales Sent from my moto e5 play using Tapatalk
All moving (out) at Reading this week. Mo Barrow has left to join a South Korean team for rumoured £1.4m. More than what we paid for him and have been pushing out for a year so good business. Garath McCleary and Chris Gunter both set you leave after 8 years. Good servants but neither have been first choice for the past 2 seasons. John Swift looks like he is off to Sheff Utd for initial fee of £3.5m. They’ve got themselves a bargain, he must be worth 3x that. Cost of coronavirus and the need for us to slash our wage bill. Looks like we’ll (finally) be addressing our massive wages this Summer. Hopefully other than Swift we can keep our main team together.
You got some good business out of us with Gunts and Mcleary all those years ago. I think we would have gone up if circumstances weren't so bad and we're able to keep the likes of them. Sent from my moto e5 play using Tapatalk
Kieffer Moore to QPR, £2 million, to help out Wigan's financial situation. 9 in 35 for Wigan so far which is okay, but for Wales he's added so much to our team and scored some vital goals, so I'm not surprised there's Championship interest in him.
Wonderful city? That's a bit strong, unless you're talking about one specific road of the city behind the train station which was quite fun and cheap compared to other places say Amsterdam. I was only there for a couple of nights, but much prefer Koln or Dusseldorf for beers. We're trying to get Ryan Woods on a perm, would be an expensive one for sure, wages, transfer fees. Would be a good signing moving forward for us though and cement us a stable Championship club. A few players leaving on a free; Aiden O'brien, he is a solid League One player but not good enough for this level.
Norwich City have completed the signing of midfielder Jacob Sorensenfrom Danish side Esbjerg fB for an undisclosed fee. Norwich already spending
Shocking fee, had he not spend most of August to December injured/not fully fit, we'd have finished top 6 and he'd have had 15-20 goals. Would easily go for 7-8m in the current Championship market. This has not only screwed us over but Barnsley too, who had a sell on clause, will cost them at least 1m+ in what would be vital revenue for them too. Just hope we get a good outcome, remain and Championship side as then a new owner could be in place very soon and stop a firesale from occurring, may even keep Moore if we keep our Championship status, given how close this squad has become and the form in 2020, would have given us a great chance at promotion next season if kept together in this division.
That was pre-covid. This is now a new market where money will be a lot tighter than before; for example; Liverpool not buying Timo Werner citing Covid19 as the reason.
He's only missed ten games all season, so I don't really see how he'd have scored 6-11 more goals, based on that. He was certainly fully fit whenever he played for Wales over that time, never needed to come off early at all, and was playing consecutive games for Wigan at the time, am I missing something? I rate him for Wales, but that's exactly the sort of fee I'd have expected him to go for. There isn't ample amounts of money about in the Championship, I don't know how many teams would have that sort of cash to spend. I'd be surprised if we spent any money, I don't think QPR can afford any more than they've spent on him. Given your administration status, you can't really sit around and wait to see if a club comes in with a higher offer at some stage, as they may not.
Yeah that was surely either tongue in cheek or he’s drunk? They’d have finished top 6 haha, alright then.
Very confident we would have, we dropped 31 points from winning positions, when in the majority we dominated most games for 75/80 minutes without killing teams off, then sitting back, panicking and throwing away points. A proper striker playing regularly and fully fit would have been a different story. If we had of kept 50% of those points we'd have been comfortably in the top 6. Moore was injured for half of the first half of the season and when he did play looked well off the pace. Been excellent since January and a big reason why we have picked up 38 points in 20 games in 2020. Only Brentford and Leeds have had less shots against them than Wigan and we have had one of the highest shot for. We are only 12 points behind the play offs which isn't a huge amount. Bellingham gone for 25m, a QPR player for 5m. I think spending will be lower but there will still be big fees being spent.
What injuries did he have for half of the season? As I've said he certainly wasn't injured for Wales, and we played games in September, October and November. He might have improved as the season went on, but he's had more than his fair share of games this season, 35 of which 31 were starts in the league so I don't see in what world he's scoring 20 goals. Jude Bellingham's going to Dortmund, a club less adversely effected then QPR will be given their Champions League revenue. He's also being signed off his potential, rather than his current ability, as he's only 17. It's not a comparable transfer. There might still be big fee's being spent, but not off clubs signing players like Kieffer Moore. He's not done enough to show he should be joining a Premier League club, where the real money is given how important the television deal is at this time for those clubs. Also, you have to bare in mind that you are in administration and every club knows that. The value of any of your players immediately dropped when it became more or less a public advertisement that every one of your players is for sale.
