4m for Ivan Toney?? Potentially rising to 9m haha, transfer fees certainly showing no sign of slowing down as was initially predicted! Having seen both Toney and Kieffer Moore in a Wigan shirt recently, Moore is far superior, yet I was laughed at for suggesting around 7m for a player who performed well at Championship!
Moore isn't worth 7/8 million never has been...and he performed well with us, not saying he's a bad player. Ivan Toney also played with us, he's done well in third tier....I'm not convinced he will make a dent in the championship...was very raw with us. If some loon wants to pay 9 million for Toney that still doesn't make Moore worth 7 or 8.
TBF it's common knowledge amongst most football people and indeed fans that the Brentford recruitment team are no "loons"
Too much of a loose cannon, erratic performances, hot headed, gives too many free kicks away in dangerous places, can have good games but worry he is always a red card waiting to happen. I rather we bought Harrison Reed from Southampton 100%.
If I could choose another owner (I wouldn't, Benham is fab!) I'd choose Darragh, seems a top fella usually.
Signed Josh Laurent on a free from Shrewsbury. Cannot see him being a starter unless we lose the majority of our midfielders, although a lot of uncertainty over many currently; John Swift - linked with Sheff Utd, Leeds & Aston Villa Ovie Ejaria - still not confirmed if he's signing permanently Pele - gone back to Monaco, we probably cannot afford his wages (or transfer fee) Also looks like after rejecting our contract offer, Danny Loader will be off to Porto. Means we miss out on what would have been a decent amount of compensation had he gone to Palace or Wolves.
Pretty much. Scored 11 goals this season and they were all instinctive. Give him time to think about it and he’ll miss. Considering he jumped 3 divisions, he did very well but surprised to see teams at the top end of the Championship being linked.
Whenever I see Norwich + multiple other clubs interested in a player I just assume it's an agent or club trying to stir up interest. Unless Pukki goes or we pull of a miracle and find a way to move Drmic I can't see us signing a striker anyway, as much as I would like us to sign a plan b type unit to hold the ball up.
The first outgoing deal is near completion as Man City agree a 41m deal with us for Nathan Ake. Sad, but to be expected, and needed given the situation. Obviously blows our largest ever transfer fee received out the water, and should go a fair way to stabilising things. Sure to be a few more outgoings yet as well.
Good fee, and should allow you to keep most of the rest of the squad (at least those you do want to keep)
Posted this on the wrong thread by accident - - - Going in to next season, we've got a lot of work to do. We've got a whole host of players leaving or set to leave the club. Likely sold: Joe Rodon (Premier League standard, loads of teams need a centre back), Andre Ayew (Premier league standard, one year left), Bersant Celina (worth money, out of favour) End of loan: Marc Guehi, Aldo Kalulu, Rhian Brewster, Ben Wilmot, Freddie Woodman, Conor Gallagher Out of contract: Mike Van der Hoorn, Nathan Dyer, Wayne Routledge, Erwin Mulder, Kyle Naughton Which would leaves us with this as the remainder of our first team squad from this season (there are a few players coming back from lower league loans, that weren't seen as good enough for us this year): GK: CB: Cabango RB: Roberts LB: BIdwell CM: Grimes, Byers, Fulton, Dhanda WF: Garrick ST: Cullen The only player of those to not come through the U23's at some stage is Jake Bidwell, who signed on a free transfer last season. There's definitely a few ways we're likely to try and make life a lot easier for ourselves. Contracts extensions to offer (on reduced terms/might not accept): Kyle Naughton, Wayne Routledge Loan extensions to offer: Marc Guehi, Freddie Woodman Youth players to promote: Steven Benda, Brandon Cooper, Tivonge Rushesha, Jack Evans We're probably somewhere between 6-8 players short for next season, and particularly short up top, at the back, and out wide. We haven't really got any money to spend though, as I'm not sure if we'll see any of the money brought in. Cooper's pretty much just going to have to hope that his contacts and connections allow him to bring in a similar calibre of loan player to Connor Gallagher and Rhian Brewster, but that's a huge ask.
Wow - that is a huge overhaul coming, very little of the first XI left. You’ll get good cash for Rodon Ayew and Celina though, your recruitment should be good again too.
