A few blues fans seem to think the Poku deal is done. I think the Rak- Sakyi rumours made him realise how close he was to missing out.

Chris Davies, doesn’t mess around you either want to join or go somewhere else.

There are three or four on that kind of money at present, and probably more next season.

I'm not sure why that's such a surprise?

For a club that used to usually be in League one but maybe you are relatively well backed ?

Unless some got a new contract after promotion.

We are backed well. Hence the decision to sack Buckingham last season.
The owners are happy to spend money to ensure Championship survival.

We have billionaire owners, who are very ambitious. We are building a new state of the art stadium that will be the most environmentally friendly stadium in Europe, and probably the world. Our owners previously owned DC United, in the States, and Inter Milan. They're real big hitters and the attraction for them is building a club in a world famous city.

We have a decent history, but had the misfortune to get bought by Firoz Kassam 25 years ago, and it has taken a long time to undo the damage that he has done to the club. I've no idea of your age, but a lot of younger fans see the shitty three sided "stadium" that Kassam built, and still owns, and named after himself, coupled with our recent seasons in the lower leagues, and think that is all we are.

Cam Brannagan was on that kind of money in League One, the others are recent arrivals. Last season we were probably lower mid table, wages wise, and next season will be comfortably higher.

Going through the Oxford squad, I fail to see anyone who could warrant bring on £15k-£20k a week. Rowett did a great job keeping them up.

I'd expect there are players in your squad earning that kind of money. You know, the squad that finished three places below us.

I knew a chap from Oxford a few years ago. He was a Blackburn glory hunter after seeing them win the league in 1995. Probably not the best choice in retrospect. I wonder if he has repented and gone back to his local team now things are looking up.

There will be after years of Championship contract extensions, but fortunately we're absolutely culling the squad after finishing below Oxford.

Who is on £15k+ in your squad? Apart from Brannagan, I can't fathom how any of the others could be.

Dembele’s probably on a bit. We were priced out of him a few years back.

Maybe, just doesn't ring true to me considering Pompey took their best player off them in the summer.

The reason Murphy went to Portsmouth wasn't for a higher weekly wage. They offered him a year longer on his contract and also his Mrs is from that area, and she wanted the move to be closer to her family. Their offer was the same amount as us. As good as he was for his last six months with us, the previous 18 months he was either injured or not very good, hence our reluctance to go beyond two years on the contract length. On the strength of last season, I'd say he kept Portsmouth up, so they got their money's worth. I believe he also played more games than at any stage of his career, so they were fortunate in that respect.

Top earners for us are, in no particular order, Brannagan, Matt Phillips, Michal Helik, Siriki Dembele, Ole Romeny (who was our record signing) and Will Vaulkes.

You sound as if you can't quite come to terms with finishing below Oxford to me. You might need to get used to it.

I really couldn't give a shite if Oxford got to the Champions League or went out of existence. I just find you hilariously arrogant and a bit out of touch with reality.

If your owners are paying any of those players close to £20k then they're batshit, they're all just bottom half dregs.

Nothing I've said isn't true, so how can it be "out of touch and arrogant"

I mean claiming everything you said as fact because you've said it is pretty arrogant...

Your disregard of 'bloody' Wrexham was also very arrogant, who will most likely be one of the biggest spenders this summer, with significant pull.

You can tell it’s the Off season when there’s bitching about player wages and finances.

    Yes true .

I’d be disappointed if some of our newer players were on over 20k a week but they will be and that is why we are skint or trying to save money .

We were paying Nacho more than that on loan apparently :shrug

Some on our forum are already moaning “we can’t compete with Wrexham and Birmingham next season” it’s not long finished.

Why would I say anything that wasn't true?

Maybe I'll just lie in future then, if that makes you happy.

I'm hearing we're signing Erling Haaland next week. There you go, happy now?

Wrexham fans already coming in with a few heavy early challenges on here by the looks of things.

I thought Chief got a fair bit of the ball though. Only a rumour isn't it?
