Yeah, we're getting ripped off here in the North West mate, one good day every fortnight or so...I demand a refund.
From a temperarature point of view the height of summer is last 2 weeks of July and 1st week of August so we are already on a downward spiral towards winter now.
Probably get a last flourish with the Indian Summer. Supposed to be a storm coming in on Wednesday night into Thursday, or so I heard.
Mother of all storms last night and through until around 8am. High winds brought down a few big branches with the odd wheelie bin on its side.
A bit breezy overnight but (according to work) there's a major storm incoming tonight. Forecast is patchy until Tuesday when it's supposed to be temps back up to 25 - 26 for a week.
Absolutely freezing here **** me, worse summer I can ever recall. I take a look in my garden now. Next doors Apple Tree, usually big thick branches hang over into my garden with big juicy apples on it...this year, barely a twig over hanging and a handful of scrawny apples, other tree the leaves are falling off as if its god damn Autumn
Don't worry though, the schools are due back shortly so we will no doubt see an improvement in the weather.
August has generally been alright I've thought. Had quite a few nice days out in the garden and had to use the air con a few times. August is usually the worst month of the summer so this one has actually been better than usual in my experience. Probably helps that I've worked all this bank holiday weekend which has been pretty shit so I've not been affected by it. And I booked off the best week in August in the middle . June and July though were absolutely horrendous though until the final week of July when it finally picked up which then continued into August. Until then it was on target for the worst summer ever title but the August recovery has meant that 2012 still retains it's title. That summer was unrelentingly miserable with constant rain and no small recovery in August. Just shite all the way through.
The weather gets cooler by the day and I love it, snow, ice, and lovely and cold will do me, call me 'Mr. Eskimo'.
I think we had a good few weeks, but it hasn't been great tbh. Today is overcast, colder and has been spots of rain.
Weird, I'm only like what? 60 miles away (assuming you live in Stoke btw?) here in Liverpool its been awful, dull, damp and even cold at times (and Im not one for feeling the cold). I honestly look around my garden and the two next door neighbours and all the plants and trees tell the story, all limp and bare. Next door one way has a huge 40ft+ Fir Tree that overhangs my fence, already in August its shed its pine needles and my decking is covered in them. Next door other way Apple Tree, usually thriving now, looks half dead and I myself have a red berry tree at the back of my garden, this usually grows dead bushy and half hides my shed, same, limp and bare. I can honestly say its been an awfully dreadful "summer" weatherwise We usually get slightly better weather than the rest of the north west (dont ask me why, think I read it has something to do with Wales/Ireland protecting us from colder fronts).
Agreed, it's been wet and it's been cold, I've got a pile of leaves up against the garage door that I wouldn't expect to see until autumn.
Very common at this time of year to get a NW/SE split in the weatther. Been an ok month so far but nowhere near as good as they've had it down south.
