I got dates wrong..monday is 12th... friday Blackburn v Derby Preston v sheff utd Saturday Cardiff v Sunderland Hull v Bristol city Leeds v Portsmouth Middlesbrough v Swansea Milwall v Watford Oxford v Norwich Qpr v wba Stoke v Coventry Sunday Sheffield wednesday v Plymouth Monday Luton v Burnley Not expecting top 6 this season with our current squad so will take a point here to start off with but a win would be great. Tough game. Think I'd go with... .......................Palmer...... Furlong....Bartley..heggem....frabotta.. .......................diakate............ Fellows..........swift.................dobbin ..................cleary......maja............ No room for ajayi Wallace or molumby
Hopefully Sheff Utd are still a work in progress. It'd be nice if Keiffer Moore is unavailable too. I'd guess at a drab draw.
Want to start this season in a winning manner. We were too slow out of the blocks last time and it cost us in the end. Likely team: Meslier Bogle Rodon Struijk Firpo Ampadu Gruev James Rutter Gnonto Joseph
Had to sell my ticket for this one. I presume we'll start something like Nardi Dunne JCS Cook Paal Field Colback (Varane coming off the bench when Colback gets a yellow after 3 minutes) Smyth (need an upgrade here) Anderson Chair (if fit, if not then Kolli) Frey/Celar Lacking a lot of pace. Got a new RB called Santos who has been playing RW so he could start in either position.
O’Leary Tanner Vyner Dickie Pring Knight Bird Sykes Wells Mehmeti Sinclair No better off than we were last season, ****ing dross. 1-1.
Gunn Stacey - Duffy - Cordoba - Doyle Gibbs - McLean Rowe - Nunez- Sainz Sargent We've had a couple of youngsters perform well in the right and centre back positions but I assume we'll go for experience, especially considering this is Cordoba's first game in England.
Early kick-off has ruled me out of going to Boro, but looking forward to it none the less. Would be happy with a point. I think we'll go quite defensive away to Boro, and think the likely team will be the following - three naturally defensive midfielders, with it probably being too early for Vipotnik to start. Biggest weaknesses in the side being Cabango being quite limited on the ball, and playing in a system that doesn't really allow him to be, and Fulton who's not quite at the level we'd want. Vigouroux Key - Cabango - Darling - Tymon Fulton - Franco - Grimes Eom - Cullen - Ronald
Dovin MvE - Thomas - Kitching - Bidwell Eccles Torp Rudoni Sakamoto Simms EMC We haven't started well for the last few years, this year we look settled from the start so that'll mean a comfortable win for Stoke.
Venturing up to Hull for half 12 on Saturday. Second time in 3 seasons we've had them to start the season, and no offence to Hull, because this is mainly just on a geographic basis, it is a ****ing terrible game to start the season with. Luckily I'm living up in Nottingham for the moment or there's not a chance I'd make it to this. Last time I went up there in 2022, I brought a mate of mine who hadn't been to an away game before (and only a handful of football games in general), we got the coach and it was an 8hr round trip for a game which we lost 2-1 in the 95th minute. He hasn't been back since. Sounds like they're a tad weak at the moment so good opportunity to get off the mark with a win here. Expecting to be left disappointed though, we're missing a no.10 and that's a big miss for a side that really isn't that creative. Defensively I think we'll still be solid so reckon it could be a drab 0-0.
Would have preferred not to be playing a newly promoted team first, but we've had a good preseason and have a strong team with quite a few options to come off the bench. Be disappointed starting the season with anything other than a win.
Would be happy with a draw bearing in mind how few defenders we have fit at the moment. Rob Edwards might have to change the formation as we only have two fit CBs. They say the best form of defence is attack which is what we'll have to do. Burnley normally do well at KR and strangely we have a good record at Turf Moor. I'll go for a 1-1 draw.
Still no idea how we'll line up tonight, and the squad is likely as weak as it'll be all season (ignoring injuries during tbe course of the season) so it's tough to call how we line up. We've been playing 4-2-3-1 in pre-season and signed a couple more players this week, so a complete guess GK: Davies DF: Gilchrist, Ahmedhodzic, Robinson, McCallum CM: Arblaster, Souza AM: Burrows, Hamer, O'Hare CF: Moore Grbic, Seriki, Souttar, Trusty, Brooks, Slimane, Brewster, Marsh, Peck
That's still an exceptionally good starting 11 for this league with a good few exceptional players on the bench too
I hadn't put Sheffield United down for play-offs in the other thread, probably largely because of how delayed you were in doing any business earlier on in the window, but looking at that side I'd have to revise that. Is Adam Davies likely to remain first choice for you? Wales haven't got any goalkeepers playing regular football in the top three tiers, so would be big for us.
Hopefully we catch Sheff Utd while they're still disjointed but they've got too much midfield quality to not score against our defence. Kieffer Moore completely bummed us when he came on at HT for Ipswich last season, it was embarrassing.
Highly unlikely, we're looking for a starting keeper (Rushworth and Cooper linked) and to sell Grbic. Souza and Ahmedhodzic are also 'available' so we could be weakened.
I think if you keep Hamer, it will be massive. He is probably the best CM in the championship. Him and O'Hare together will be one of the best in the league.
