Had the better of this half but Braintree not out of it and could still go either way. Love to nick it at the death.
Couldn't force a winner, though we had got ourselves on top. Given Iron's first half can't complain, draw probably fair.
Watched the Braintree game and thought they had little to offer and FGR were quite similar to ourselves in the sense, that a lack of imagination and creativity meant FGR found it hard to break a determined and industrial defence down. Never felt Braintree were going to offer enough to score, but they clearly had a plan to try and earn possession further up the pitch. but they weren't good enough to have any prolonged possession. As FGR stepped up the effort i the second half, apart from earning a few corners and putting high crosses into the box, they never really tested the 'keeper. Pleasing result from our perspective.
Was the sort of game where I was hoping Haughton would do his stuff but he never got going and could see why he was subbed. With Doidge injured we're a bit short up front, thought obviously you'd hope Cards would be good enough.
You won’t have been expecting it because I’m assuming you hadn’t watched us until today. I have. And we’ve been mostly awful.
I thought Cards added some momentum and pace up front, but again no penetration. He won a few corners but that was about it. Also with how dry it has been up here, their pitch was bear in places and made through balls almost impossible to play, as the ball just ran away from the attackers, so that didn't help the game either.
Two poor sides down at the Shay, on the whole. Scrappy performance but nice to see some goals and more entertainment value. Get some of our key players fit and I think we’ll be fine.
For 5 goals, i didn't feel very entertained at all. Odd game. Punctuated by each side dominating the game for around 20 mins at a time. We played better against Forest Green and Lost,
Yep. Been saying it all summer, as have many others. If we add some real quality into midfield we could be challenging for top 7 come end of season. If we don’t the competent sides will continue to take advantage of it and we’ll end meddling around in the mid to bottom half of the league.
This has been a nothing game so far. Brackley are sitting 11 men behind the ball so half of it has been us just passing along the back. Not sure Whitehall has even touched the ball yet
Sam Cox has said it in his interview, but once again these are mind numbingly stupid goals to concede. That said, we didn’t deserve anything - played OK again, but Dale missed a couple of golden chances in that second half which could have made the scoreline look a lot worse.
Ref wasn't going to miss that pull How has the Brackley CB not got a 2nd yellow for that though And of course, we're now down to 10 when we should have a 2nd penalty
Early days, but the Dale the best side we have played so far . Play a pleasing style, but strong, energetic; can play a longer ball when required and have Mani D up front. Probably the worst we have played this season but equally might not have been allowed to play. Whilst we have lost the last three, and could add another two in the next two games, today was the only one we should have lost. Should have got a point v Carlisle and comfortably beaten Boston . Way too many silly goals conceded and impotent up front with no forward worth its name .
