Hopefully that gives Aldershot a boost, improves the crowds next season and they can start looking up the table towards the Football League again instead of down. Great following at Wembley to show the potential.

Lovely strike by Barrett to crown the victory.

    What a football club

Was nervous until we went 3 up but we were probably in control once Barham put us ahead just after half time

Honestly that's the best game i've been to, ever. Nothing will ever take today away

Those 8-2, 6-1 defeats 4 hours away on Tuesday nights just make today even more sweeter

So proud to be Aldershot tonight. Second half we were phenomenal, Spennymoor got nowhere near us. And what a goal from Barrett to finish it all off. Hard to put into words my feelings tonight, but todays been the greatest footballing day of my life, and makes all those hours and money spent following this team round the country worth it. Today will never be topped

And those two posts show why we bother week-in week-out.

Congrats Shots, saw the Vase final, a fellow Stone has a holiday home in Whitstable, so went along to support the Oysters. Fun day and quite an exciting game but, boy, was the standard poor. There were three former Stones in the Leafe side.

Couldn’t bring myself to watch the Shots game after our defeat there in an earlier round, nor did Deon Woodman who was also there supporting a Whitstable friend and had a shocker in said game.

Rather jealous of Shots thousands at the final. What a day they must have had .

Some of our fans are having meltdowns about the result

However I know a load of them from my childhood who were supporting them before they went bust and followed them on the long journey back. Pleased for those guys and did text a few who were crying their eyes out about finally getting to Wembley

Was the Vase result considered an upset?

Whyteleafe were favs. They have a number of players who have played up the pyramid. Ex Stone Ryan Gondah should not be playing step 5. Leafe were far the better side 1st half but in the second period and extra time, the blood and guts of Whitstable won through.

Thanks mate. Hope you had a safe journey back up north. Chatted with quite a few of your fans throughout the day, all of them were a credit to your club and proper football fans. Thought you guys more than matched us in the first half but ran out of puff second half, would have been a totally different game if you’d put away that chance in the first half. All the best for next season and hope our paths cross again soon
