I think I managed to get to the end of season 2....quick look at the synopsis.....yeah, I started the first episode of S3 and then stopped.
Andor (Season 1) I had ignored this, because I found all the new Star Wars stuff meh, except for Rogue One. I was intrigued by the high rating & chatter on the SM of the second season, so decided to give this a watch, expecting to be disappointed. But my God this is wonderful. Not just the best Star Wars stuff, but one of the best series on TV right now. Good acting, wonderful slow buildup, all the small plotlines coming together nicely, intriguing characters & some visually gorgeous scenes (the end of the Eye Episode was ). This was brilliant. Will start watching season 2 from tomorrow.
The third season does get a bit better, but if you've stopped watching it, it is probably not worth picking it back up.
Long Bright River 8.75/10 A US police thing. Working girls are being killed our female cops sister is missing. A slow burn, well acted and thought provoking. I really enjoyed this one
Exactly the same as that. Loved the original films, and even the prequels but couldn’t finish the last 3 films. Avoided most things Star Wars since but gave this a go due to the critics response. I had to stop after a couple of episodes to watch rogue 1 and finished the show about a week ago. Its one of the best shows I’ve seen recently
Game of Thrones Series 1 [2011] Decided to give this a 2nd watch, it's still a 9/10 with some genuinely jaw-dropping plot twists, I'll probably rewatch Series 2 now.
I had to watch rogue 1 right after finishing it. Have not seen it since seeing it in cinema and it made thr movie even better.
Enjoying this atm... Basically modern day Don Draper loses his job and starts robbing his rich friends... 8 episodes in, just 1 left, would recommend it.
Andor. Didn't get into s1 first time and binned it a few episodes in. Watched Rogue and really liked the movie, ended up starting again later, and appreciated s1 more. Finally finished s2 and thought it was great. Ending was pretty emotional stuff, no bells and whistles there, but obviously knowing how it all ends for the title character, made it even more hard hitting. Can't fault it. "The evil Disney" corporation gets far too much flack IMO by some, but I like some of the other spin off stuff as well, and think they have been a positive force in the Star Wars canon, no matter what the obsessed protectors of Star wars say. 10/10 for me, very different and very human series.
I gave up watching after Battle Of The Bastards in series 6 as GOT went to shit after that,i mean The High Sparrow wtf was that all about?
I'm now on episode 7 of series 3, it's brilliant but obviously I know that famously it ends very, very badly. That said I'm almost up to the Joffrey birthday episode . . .
Bloody hell that kid couldn't act and always tried to look hard which was laughable i'd be more scared of a 5 year old schoolboy.
I remember Jack Gleeson retired from acting after GoT in 2014, but I just looked him up and he returned to it in 2020, perhaps he spent the 6 years away learning his craft?
Under the Dome The residents of Chester's Mill wake up one morning to find that their town has been isolated from the rest of the world by a transparent dome and they must now survive on dwindling resources. Just finished watching all three seasons. Enjoyed it. The first two seasons were better, I thought, though. The ending did pave way for a further season but, apparently, there isn’t going to be one that was 10 years ago so I doubt anything will materialise now.
Look up Paradise (with James Marsden & Sterling Brown). Just one season. You will love it, if you liked this.
White Lotus S1 and currently working our way through S2, because we always seem to watch things about 5 years after they come out. Entertaining, although not a lot actually seems to happen in each episode. Still, I'm sure all the actors had a marvellous time in Hawaii (and Sicily) whilst filming. Stiffler's Mom steals the show. A word too for the sound mixer(s), who should be fired and never allowed to work in TV ever again. Dialogue too quiet, incidental music too loud. Of course that could be my age showing.
Dept. Q. Netflix. Stars Matthew Goode who's been in a few decent things, and Mark Bonnar who seems to appear in anything that involves anything Scottish. Goode plays a Detective in this, back on duty four months after being shot while investigating a murder. When he returns to work he's put on light duties which involves investigating a cold case where a Solicitor/advocate disappeared while on a ferry four years previous. Goode is joined by a police cadet who is recovering from a breakdown and a Syrian refugee who just happened to be in the office and picks the case they are to investigate, convinced that the missing person didnt jump overboard and is still alive somewhere. I liked this. It had its faults, like everyone seems angry all the time and the bits where Goode goes to his enforced shrink sessions were a bit daft, but for all that it was very good. 8.000001/10
