No surprise if you watched our qualifying games. Laid England off before the start, they've got no chance.
France were the better team, can't really complain, maybe a bit of a wake up call as they (England) looked complacent at times.
Fair play to the French , totally dominant for 70 mins with England bossing the 1st & last 10 mins & 2-1 was a very flattering scoreline with the overall poor performance by most but , Wednesday is another day , time to step up . Right , time for Channel 5+1 & the Bellingham Derby .
Same story for Norway. 1-1 at halftime but they've been very underwhelming. Finland have surprisingly been the better team for much of the half. The quality of player will probably eventually win it for Norway but they need to improve a lot based on the first game and a half. Edit* Hansen wins it for Norway. Undeserved but six points from two subpar performances.
No real surprise that's how it played out. Norway would have expected to finish top of the group, although they're a bit fortunate to have won both games. Finland v Switzerland should be a good game. Both have played really well v Norway. Finland have been a bit better than I expected but home advantage probably gives Switzerland the edge in that game.
I'm currently watching Spain vs. Belgium. It shouldn't be a problem for the Spanish women. The commentator just said that they recently beat the Belgians 5-1 in the Nations League. Regardless, they'll win the group anyway. As far as I'm concerned, (almost) any nation can win the Euros, but hopefully not the Spanish women. Because then Spain would join Germany as the only nation to have won the World Cup and the Euro, both for men and women
Belgium kept it interesting for an hour but an inevitable win for Spain. Hopefully the later game will be more competitive.
Denmark 1-0 up v Germany at halftime. Surprising scoreline, particularly as the last time I'd checked the score Germany were winning 1-0
Yeah, VAR again 2-times against us (goal offside, penalty declined), one time for us (penalty) but all decisions were correct tbh. First match without our regular captain Gwinn and you saw it. Anyway, a win is a win, already qualified for the quarterfinals together with Sweden (3-0 against Poland). The last match is only for top spot but tbh I don't care if we are #2 or #1 in the group at the end.
The first match today, England vs Netherlands will be interesting to watch after the results of the 1st round. But I'm confident that Englands Ladies are strong enough to win against the Dutch ladies, if they play like the first and last 15 minutes of the France match. If they play like the 60 mins in between then it will be difficult. Our ladies played against the Dutch in this years Nations League. We draw the first match, 2-2, away but at home we won very confincingly 4-0. This was just 5 weeks ago and the Dutch ladies looked very ordinary (ok, their star player, Miedema (who just scored her 100th goal for the Netherlands) was out due to injury). So good luck, Englands Lionesses! 2nd match will be France vs Wales. Any other result than a clear France win would really be a sensation.
England have to win or they're out. Unfortunately it's a 5pm kickoff here so I'll only see the second half but hopefully it's a good night.
you live in the wrong country, Jason. Here you could see the whole match because kick-off is 18:00 (or 6pm for you) Anyway, good luck for the match!
England the better team and have translated their superiority into goals, the 2nd came just on the stroke of halftime and will be a difficult one for the Dutch to get over.
