I agree with most of that but he's still a level above LA Knight it baffles me how he has so many fans. Much rather see Chad Gable get a main event push than Knight personally. Glad Gunther has got the title back hopefully gets a better booked run this time.
Yeah, don’t see the fuss about Knight myself. Cody’s main assets he always been his character work imo Generic white meat do gooder babyface is quite possibly the worst role for him (again imo) I’m surprised the crowd haven’t turned on him.
I do like his heel stuff from back in the day and I have said before he could do a Homelander heel gimmick with the same presentation tbh. Doubt they turn him yet though he's still way too over as a babyface.
He's good enough in the ring, and has a lot of brownie points with the IWC due to his work on the indies, NJPW and AEW. He was a great heel when a member of the Bullet Club, but he wants to be a classic babyface, probably because that's what his dad was. I believe he is also a big fan of The Stinger (hence his current look), who was also a career face.
I will say before I make this point that I've missed a bit of wrestling down the years but I'm surprised no one has played mind games with Cody yet about he goes on as wanting to honour his fmaily and his dad yet he dresses like Ric Flair. Feels like a really obvious story to do. The son of the dream, being a man of the people yet he styles and profiles. He rides jets, has his own bus, sharp suits, bling....and who was Dusty's biggest rival in the 80s? If it's been done already then I obviously missed it
I think Kevin Owens may have been playing to that a bit with the whole Canadian Dream, but yeah they never fully leaned into it.
In the minority here but I enjoyed Cody's babyface work. Imo the run up to Wrestlemania 40 is the best WWE has been since the early 00's and that's down to how invested I was in the "finish the story" arc. The booking was a bit mixed after that mind. I would also like to see a heel run soon.
Jon Moxley and AEW are being sued aftee he went off-script and pushed a production guy to the floor., AEW And Jon Moxley Sued For Negligence, Civil Assault, And Battery By Production Crew Member (Exclusive)
Not gonna lie, I've had some serious wrestler podcast fatigue with so many around and a lot of them just being old heads shitting on the current product. However, this conversation was amazing. I could listen to a few more hours of this.
Just happen to be in the middle of watching this. Never knew the PW Tees story, even though I knew Colt is an honorary staff member there, and I have been buy shirts since there was a handful of guys on it (I also have PWT shirts of the 4 guys KO listed).
Yeah I didn't either. Glad we're at a spot where a WWE-produced content allows these guys to be pretty open about themselves and their pasts. KO talking about how he didn't want to be Damian Priest's TV friend was pretty funny too, along with the Big Show stories. Makes me wonder how many restaurant chairs/chairs in general Big Show has destroyed
This definitely isn't the first Big Show destroyed a chair story I have heard. Pretty sure I have heard similar for Andre and Mark Henry. Cody's impression of Show just chuckling and falling was exactly how I would picture it
Shit for him. Gives them a way to pivot away from the pretty crap Heyman stable they had built up. It never seemed to be generating much excitement and think they'd have been way better off having Punk lead it. Or just having Heyman manage Brekker to go through everybody.
I fell asleep but what I saw of Evolution was great. An into it crowd makes the world of difference to any wrestling product and that crowd were there to watch women's wrestling. Definitely think they should look to do this at a minimum once a year.
Finally sat down and watched Evolution. Shame there was no big surprises but great ppv and cool for Naomi to get another title run she's put the work in. Lyra Valkyria is genuinely one of the best wrestlers in the world btw what a talent she is.
