http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GVMaIUSeRxA "Is Gascoigne going to have a crack...he is you know...Ohhhhhh I say!" Classic Gazza, Classic Barry Davis.
Another bit of Gascoigne-related commentary for me from John Motson at Euro 96 - "Here's Gascoigne. Oh brilliant. Oh yes! Oh yes!" From a Town point of view, John Tondeur's line of "Oh my goodness, it's Glen Downey" when the centre-back who hardly played popped up with a vital goal against Wrexham always makes me smile even now.

This ^ and these.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXTLHkNMxRY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kM5XP-Ps7tk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2wpH09cOU4 "This is incredible, this is quite incredible, Gareth Bale has scored a hat-trick in the San Siro"
Not commentay but a after game chat Andy Townsend says some rubbish & Teddy Sheringham says to him "Thats good coming from a fake Irishman"
I do hate it when you want to look up a classic goal and it gives a different comentary, for example you look for the Gascoigne commentary and it gives you Brian Moore which just doesn't show the same emotion that John Motson showed

" Watkin.... oh he's scored." Stevo scored the winning goal against Arsenal in 1992 and i was there. Tony Gubba was the commentator and so few words were needed. Don't like it when they waffle on.
I always liked that classic Colemanballs: "And Seaman, like a falling oak... manages to change direction!"
that's the problem with the modern commentator, they're not emotional enough. I'm in the pro Motson camp and even Barry Davies had his moments. The commentary you mentioned by Gubba was similar to when Gary McDonald scored the winner against Everton, it brings back memories. I wish I knew what the commentator said when Robbie Simpson smashed his volley into the back of the Kop net from 25 yards the other week
Motty does tend to spend too much time IMO banging on about stats. Don't really give a shite if the last time a team scored from a penalty was xx amount of games ago. Loved Barry Davies. These days commentators just love the sound of their own voice. Viewers are not stupid and can see what is going on so why the need for non stop chat. The year we beat Arsenal we had West Ham in the next round. We drew 2-2 at their ground and as Gubba did the Arsenal tie he covered this match. As he was walking down the touchline to do an interview pitchside before the match started all the Wrexham crowd ( i was there ) chanted " One Tony Gubba, there's only one Tony Gubba ... repeat over and over and he acknowleged us with a wave and we all cheered. Top bloke.
Tyler is by farrrrrrrrrrr the greatest commentator ever.
Mine was went Drury shouted "GOAL FOR AFRICA!!!!" When South Africa scored opening goal of WC 2010. Oh no wait, that was most cringeworthy.
I was going to drop a large brick on your head for that but then i saw the follow up to it. You have been reprieved.
