didn’t know if was on but accidentally stubbled across it whilst flicking through SS. He was seriously hurt in that first round but absolutely destroyed Nery from the next round onwards. He is an incredible fighter, generational talent. Everything he does is elite level and his power is absolutely frightening. That short right hand that finished the fight traveled inches

I’m not sure I’d have him over Crawford p4p but I’d say usyk/inoue/Crawford would be most peoples top 3 currently

Yeah he’s a beast. I’d never normally be interested in watching a guy that small but it’s like watching a middleweight.

A 90%-odd KO rate at the lower weight divisions like flyweight is crazy.

He's had a few midweek fights. It must be a part of Japanese culture.

Yeah he does. Generally Mondays I think and we get it in the afternoon because of the time difference.

Remember watching his last one on my phone on SkyGo at work

    Obviously wasn’t a bank holiday.

I watched this. Thought he was really good and good to see him win convincingly after being put on his back side. He's some fighter.

I'd like to see him have a couple more fights and then maybe move up and have a crack at becoming a 2 weight champ.

He’s had belts across 4 divisions already and been undisputed in 2. He’s gone from Flyweight to Super Bantam, I can’t see him going up again.

Watched The latest Inoui fight, how short are his punches ffs? knock out power in both hands, incredible speed as well. He wasn't fighting a mug either! Not sure how hurt he was in the first round, because he gives nothing away. Him and Bud Crawford are phenomenal.

i was talking with my boxing coach about this. Its astonishing how he can generate that power in a shot that only travelled a few inches. That finishing combo was crazy: Set him up with a short right uppercut, and didn’t even reset to throw the right hand. I tried that a few times in sparring and got punished every time

he does everything really well. His footwork is all about constantly applying pressure, which is absolutely draining for his opponents. And he’s one of the best counter punchers in the sport. Pick your poison with inoue, If you stand off him he’ll just push you back to the ropes. Try to be aggressive and eat his counters. And he is bringing eyes and fans to weight classes that even many boxing fans weren’t that interested in

Not seen short punches delivered with that kind of weight and venom behind them since Hamed and he was one of the best I've seen.

That’s a good shout. The difference i would say is naz would generate power in unorthodox ways. He wasn’t technical, he was like a coiled spring. His elusivenesses allowed him to fight like this as he was always off balance/over reaching but his opponents couldn’t punish him. He’s utterly unique as a fighter, a one off, and I say this a someone who wasn’t a fan of his but I’ll always give him his due

The finishing shot from inoue was all torque and technique. I even heard bitter fans claiming he must have had his wraps stacked to be able to KO an elite level fighter like that! This is why he’s never fought in the states blah blah blah

Yeah I get that ,but the balance and ring craft is similar to Hamed ,I think one of the most amazing things about Hamed was he fought with his hands loose ,even sometimes by his side ,he virtually had no defensive guard and there's certain similarities with Inoue and how low he keeps his hands. The thing with both fighters is as an opponent will sometimes commit to the attack once they believe they're losing their balance but the position of their feet told another story and then the speed and power of the counter often caught them cold.

Not really. Rhys Edwards vs Thomas Patrick ward should be good/competitive as should the headline fight between price and mckaskill

On the other card Bentley vs dignum may be decent but I fully expect Bentley to win. The rest of the card looks like a mix of mostly journeymen vs prospects so they are gonna be squash matches

I’ll watch the boxer card, but I’m not gonna waste my time with the BT sports card, it will be shit!

i don’t know how any fighter even prepared for hamed. I’m not sure he even knew what he was going to do most of the time. He literally ripped up the boxing technique rule book. He did everything you were told not to do as a boxer. This was all about his athleticism, reflexes and pure arrogance tbh. As an unbeaten fighter he was mentally as strong as anyone, which is essential in top level boxing

Fighters definitely have a similar problem with naz and inoue regards how to approach the fight. You can’t really let either guy lead but they are just as dangerous on the counter. Inoue would be a bad matchup for naz though imo. He’s got fantastic fundamentals, technique and he can operate as a pressure fighter. He can do the things that Barrera did. Around his weight naz only loses to ATGs.

We can only guess at the outcome of that match up mate ,both have excellent feet and ring smarts ,but I think Inoue gets hit more than Naz he was more elusive and must have been a nightmare to box ,also Naz's hand speed was bluringly quick, like Sugar Ray quick. On the other hand Inoue's counter punching is phenomenal ,the only fighter I've seen with that kind of lethal counter was Pernell 'Sweet Pea' Whitaker. No mistake though,It would certainly be an intriguing match up when both in their pomp.

That said, I think Pernell in his day would have hammered both boxers ,never seen his like before and I'm guessing we never do ,his defensive game was just unreal.

I’d pick inoue to beat hamed! He’d be the smaller fighter as well but not by a big amount. Hamed fought at the next weight up from inoue currently, but inoue has already moved up 4 weight classes. He’s without doubt a future atg and imo one of the best ‘small’ fighters in history already.

Pernell Whittaker is one of the best defensive boxers ever! I am a fan and he would beat both. But tbf he’d be much bigger. He operated at lmw by the end of his career which is 25-30lb heavier than the other 2

Well done Lauren. Completely dominated the Champion McCaskill.

Has any other football club had a former player go on to become a boxing World Champion? Good pub quiz question.

I expected her to dominate mckaskill. She was on a completely different level on the night. Great performance

The only other pro footballer to turn pro boxer is Curtis woodhouse as far as I know . He won the British title at LWW which is also incredibly impressive. It’s historically one of the most stacked divisions in all of boxing

Great performance from Loma last night. He’s apparently targeting gervonta davis wba belt next. Will tank finally grow the balls to fight Loma now he’s getting old? I’m not sure he will, not yet anyway!
