A proper hat trick too, 3 goals in one half with no one scoring in between.

At least he scored one of the three goals not from the penalty spot

Idk, has there ever been a hat trick with penalties in the Bundesliga? If not then I'm sure that Kane will be the first soon. ;)

Haven't seen the match because I already knew the outcome but I see from the match report that Augsburg was only 0-1 behind until stoppage time.
Anyway, at least I can now concentrate on my visit to the Volkspark this evening because the 1.BL matches are only of secondary interest for me after Bayern already won and the others can't reduce the gap.

    *******************************

Saturday evening live match on free tv will be HSV vs Schalke.

The match between the 2 clubs with the most spectators in 2.Bundesliga. Volkspark will be sold out again, of course.

Both clubs need to win, HSV to close the gap to the top (especially after Paderborn won the top match on Friday and is now #1 and 5 pts ahead) and Schalke to get out of the bottom half.

Coach Steffen Baumgart actually has a lot of pressure, if he can't stop the recent trend I think he won't see the end of the season (same is also valid for the Schalke coach, I think)

Some football history of this match:

13 German Championships combined (Schalke 7, HSV 6)

But Schalke never won a Bundesliga Championship, all of their 7 titles were in the pre Bundesliga era, mostly in the 1930's (HSV won 3 of its 6 titles in the Bundesliga, though)

Schalke's last title was 1958 in the German Championship Final against ......HSV (3-0) in Hannover
( HSV also lost the previous final 1957 against Dortmund, also in Hannover! We had to wait until 1960 to win our first title after WW2 against 1.FC Köln in Frankfurt (our 3rd title overall back then))

You still need to SCORE a penalty and Kane is a killer. Bayern battered Augsburg, about 80% possession and about 33 shots to 2.

We also won at home 3-0 but our lack of DM is a big problem. With one, I could have seen Enrique outwitting Kompany tactically but without one, things are going to get tough if players like Musiala or Olise are in a good mood. We're also quite stupid on the counter so it's not a given that we take our chances.

Bayern will probably end up scoring more easily against us than against Augsburg!

Ruhig, Brauner! :therethere Of course you still need to score a penalty and everybody knows that Kane is nearly perfect from the penalty spot ( actually a perfect 5 of 5 in the Bundesliga this season).

It was only a statement from me because of this near perfection from the spot that Kane would most likely be the first player in the Bundesliga to score a penalty hattrick (if this hadn't been reached before).

And yet you only managed to score due to a penalty in regular time. With 33 shots on goal. I hope the Bayern striker won't waste that many chances against PSG in the CL (you know that as much as I hope that Bayern loses points in the Bundesliga I want them to win in the CL (like every other Bundesliga club))

    **********
Anyway, more important for me is the HSV match this evening. it's a classic, I mentioned already some previous historical facts.
    Overall this match is quite even: 113 matches, 44W - 25D - 44L, 185-172 Goals.

Bilanz Hamburger SV gegen FC Schalke 04

But HSV has never lost against Schalke in the 2.Bundesliga so far: 4 matches 3W-1D-0L , 11-5 Goals. I hope this won't change (like the stats in the 2.BL against Eintracht Braunschweig recently) ;)

Someone tell Schalke that Christmas is next month.

And HSV might be guilty of re-gifting.

Yes, unbelievable We were still celebrating the 1-0 due to a free kick goal and 30 seconds later Schalke's defender with such a blooper in the penalty area :D

At the begin of the 2nd half we could have decided the match with the 3-0 but Davie Selke failed against Schalke's goalie and then "it began again", as usual nowadays, we gave it all away in the 2nd half. Unbelievable, too. Gift from our Captain 2-1 and then even the 2-2. We had chances at the end again but failed 2-times. So only a 2-2 against bang average Schalker (we were bang average, too, though). Still unbeaten against them in the 2.BL but that's not enough for us.

Long time not heard at the Volkspark after the match: Booing. More pressure for Coach Steffen Baumgart. The guy must have enough inner heat that he can ignore the temperatures. It was near 0° Celsius and he's jumping around in the coaching zone wearing only a HSV t-shirt

    edit:

I already mentioned it, that the pressure on Steffen Baumgart is high actually and this Sunday morning his time has now elapsed as coach of his "childhood club".
Sporting Director Stefan Kuntz has sacked him

Flat Cap man is history at HSV

Next weekend we're playing away against #2 Karlsruhe, we're still only 4 pts away from #1 spot (although actually only at #7 (maybe #8 after the Sunday matches).

Although this is our worst position in 7 years of being in the 2.Bundesliga we're still in the race in this league where anyone can beat anyone (In 1.BL the #2 spot Frankfurt has already 6 pts gap to #1). Assistant coach Polzin will coach for the next match at KSC (he already did it for 1 match after the sacking of Tim Walter (He reached a 2-2 at Hansa Rostock back then)

After today's results, the Zwei's table shows the top 10 inside 5 points after 13 games. Wahnsinn knapp as they say! Hamburg aren't outpaced by anyone in particular and they are still unbeaten at home (Paderborn is the only other side to achieve that) but 4 games without a win and you feel a certain lack of urgency which simply isn't happening for the less fancied contenders (Paderborn, Karlsruhe, Elversberg).

It's going to be a tight one (as usual) and reckon the not so big clubs will be up there come May. I mentionned home losses, H96 suffered their first yesterday to Darmstadt and will need to work to finish in the top 2. They travel to Köln next who are on 3 wins in a row now. Crazy stuff.

 Wow. Sad to hear that, I probably had a few more lame flat-cap jokes in me.

But we’ll see where he lands.

Ruud shortlisted to take over at HSV. Other rumours are Labbadia but it's a bit same old same old. I'd go RvN personnally. @Dirk?

Sorry for the late reply, I wasn't online since Sunday.

van Nistelrooy has just signed for Leicester City. Tbh I wasn't fond of him anyway. Yes he played at HSV in 2010/11 but I can't rate him as coach.

    Bruno Labbadia is rumoured, yes.

And this would be a bad signing imo. HSV player, too, and coach (2-times). But this would be a disgrace if Sporting Director Stefan Kuntz would sign him. I know that Kuntz and Labbadia are buddies and played together in Kaiserslautern and won there the German Cup and Championship in 1990 and 1991 but I hope that Kuntz has a vision for the future of HSV and signing a coach who was sacked here 2-times before isn't a vision but a disaster imo

I'd hardly call Dortmund battered given that Kobel had little to do. In my completely unbiased opinion, Musiala saved your backsides (and Olise with that delicious cross) because nobody else was capable of scoring (Kane did limp off injured in the first half which made things more difficult).
Wonderful run by Gittens for the opening goal but tbh Neuer should have saved the shot. I'd say a draw was a fair result. Good game but it would have been better had Dortmund won.

#2 Karlsruher SC vs #10 Hamburger SV 1-3 : JAWOLL!!!!

Can't believe that this was the same HSV who was winless for 4 league matches and last week could only get a 2-2 against bang average Schalke (who, btw lost their next match at home with 0-3 against FCK :D )

    Unbelievable.
KSC now down from #2 to #5 and HSV up from #10 (after yesterday's matches) to #2 (direct promotion place, but level on points with 3 other clubs), in one match. (OK, Paderborn won, too, and is still 4 pts ahead)

This league is insane in competition at the top. Love it!

    Where this wonder comes from?
Idk, maybe it has to do with our interims coach's first name.....Merlin (Polzin)

Neuer sent off after 18 minutes, not the best start we could have.

Ten man Bayern knocked out. People talk about Kane being cursed but that's two consecutive seasons they've been knocked out of the cup without Kane on the pitch.

He doesn't need to be on the pitch just on the bench that's enough for the "curse" (only joking)

So for the 5th time in a row that Bayern hasn't reached the quarterfinals.

Kicker.de writes that it was Manuel Neuer's first red card in his career, after 864 comp. matches.

btw: 3.Liga Arminia Bielefeld eliminated 1.BL SC Freiburg with 3-1 . Great!
