Just wondering if anyone has had or currently has a car on a personal lease before? It’s something I’m considering so just wanted some opinions, whether it be PCH or PCP.

Would you recommend that over the PCH? Who did you get it with?

I've never had a car through PCH so I can't comment. I'm in a 4 year contract with VW.

Yeah all of our current cars that my family owns we've gone direct to the dealer.

Thank you that really helps, although I imagine the prices will be higher from a dealer.

It depends on how good at haggling you are or if you know somebody who works at the garage you're buying from ;)

CarWow is good for this as they pull up the best deals for whatever car you're after in the whole country, it's good as your ace in the whole so to speak when you're trying to get the price down.

I’ll have a look on Carwow later then thank you. I think I’m leaning more towards the PCH from what I’ve read but certainly won’t rule out PCP if it’s a better deal.

My hubby is about as much use as a chocolate fire guard with stuff like this, and me the same. So thank you.

My current car is on PCP.
I wouldn't get a PCP deal from a garage, to a greater or lesser extent depending on the dealer (VW charge extortionate interest rates.)

Got it through a private broker

Capital Car Finance - PCP & Lease Purchase - Rates From 5.5% APR

Got 5.5% interest rate on the loan rather than the 12% that VW were offering me. You also have a better chance at haggling with the garage as you are technically a cash buyer in their eyes.

Well yeah that interest is great isn’t it compared to direct with the dealer. I’ve just had a look at the website and it certainly seems a good way if it’s PCP I go for so thank you very much for that.

Out of interest what made you go for PCP over PCH?

Yeah I forgot about the high interest rates VW have, I know the manager of the dealer I got mine from so I got a nice discount on it. If the deals right, the deals right.

Cheaper cost per month and allowed me to get a nicer car with my budget. As long as I stay under my mileage at the end of the deal I can hand it back to them no questions asked.

Absolutely, I asked the dealership about budging on the interest rate but they showed no interest so I went with an option that was much more helpful and cheaper.

It's especially egrigious when you consider the BoE has had sub 1% interest rates for a decade now, and the ECB has negative rates.

So you don’t have to purchase the car at the end of the contract?

No, as long is it’s in good condition and at/under your mileage agreement then it’s fine.

Ah I ok, I was under the assumption you had to with PCP and you didn’t with PCH.

But thank you for your help.

Now my 2.4 petrol guzzler is knackered were looking at doing a PCP on a 1.2 or a 1.4, the amount I’ll save on petrol per month should just about cover the monthly cost and then I’ll be saving on tax as well so it’s a no brainer for us really.
