Remember that thread http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/new...ayer-reveal-new-OPTA-stats-article839379.html Least touches of the ball per game in the whole Premier League - just 24 touches a game! Seems a very low number indeed!
says more about the rest of the Villa team than him Bent has consistently scored goals in the top division, for some very average sides - not a bad record, despite how few touches he may get!
Not a massive fan of bent but this stat means nothing. Firstly it doesn't matter, if you're a striker you won't touch the ball that much, he's not a creative player, he's just a finisher so ideally one or two touches to shoot-score. Villa are also pretty negative lacking creativity, he's not going to be fed much so this statistic doesn't really reflect too badly on him. 14 goals in 30 games for Villa, considering they've been pretty average, it's not bad at all.
I knew from day one that McLeish was a disaster. Play the most boring, uninspiring defensive football. Add to the fact they have no creativity in midfield (something McLeish is consistent of having, and since Villa started with that rubbish midfield his plans were already 50% done!) and have inconsistent wingers (basicially the source of Villa's attacking prowess) with a striker who needs to be behind defenders to score a goal with your team playing deep and the disaster has begun. If McLeish was adventurous he wouldn't be a bad manager. The simple fact that he's a bland manager. Bland style, bland management, bland tactics, bland transfers...
Shocking player. I don't no which is worse Capello starting Heskey at the World cup or starting Bent in the Euro qualifiers.
This. We all know the type of player Bent is, if he has the provision he will consistently score. At the moment he doesn't have the provision. We're playing terribly. He's not the type of player to maker his own chances, he's the type to be in the right place at the right time to bag a goal from someone else's hard work. Without the provision I wouldn't be surprised if he moved on in January.
If anything it shows how good he is. Doesn't get much of the ball but still scores. He's a player who would score goals for every single Prem club imo. He doesn't need to be used in a certian way, he doesn't need to play for a certain club, he's a natural goal scorer and at the end of the day strikers are paid to score goals.
I agree it says a lot about his team mates if he could get the service he would score no doubt about it I also blame mcLeish he should set the team up to get the best out of Bent.
I'd admit Bent is quality but he aint gonna get the chances with Ginger Twat in charge #statingtheobvious
