Didn’t see that coming, would have been happy with the point all in all. Never stop this lot however. Absolutely massive 3 points.
That was certainly a round of fixtures. Can't be many days where we've been spanked, Ipswich get a last minute winner and we're arguably in a better position than at the start of the day.
Good day of football today, enjoyed all the matches shown on TV and it leaves everything in the division wide open. Even Rotherham have commenced the great escape
I mean, it wasn't high on quality, but it was at least competitive in the sense of it being 2 even sides
Well our draw wasn't a bad result in the end. Everyone else lost. Think 4 more wins will do it. At the moment it'll be saints in the play offs who we've already lost twice too
Yep, 4th win of the season so we are definitely going for it now. Millwall fans didn't take a defeat to a team that tends to get mullered every week too well. The dividing barriers that separate away fans from the home fans were attacked as the Millwall fans left and several were damaged beyond repair. The stewards and police did a good job keeping the idiots in check TBF and it was all dealt with in a couple of minutes. Middlesboro, Coventry and Norwich fans all took a defeat to the worst team in the league on the chin and left the stadium with no bother. I guess some things never change..
Superb results for all of the top three in tough games for each. I’m a natural pessimist but I do feel Leicester will have enough still to win the league, so then it’s a shootout between us and Ipswich. We both have some tough fixtures to go so it will be tight but I’m not massively confident!
Agreed. It's an awfully difficult cycle break out of and I really don't know how we'll do it. If we stay up we'll have a difficult decision to make at the end of the season. It's fair to say that Schumacher hasn't done well and that there are a number of concerning Nathan Jones-esque signs like the constant chopping and changing of the team and lots of worrying indications that he hasn't truly got a grip of the dressing room. Will he have done enough to earn the opportunity of another season and the chance to buy the players he wants in the summer if we stay up? Possibly not. We've also been in this situation before with Jones and Alex Neil where they had a poor first season, but we all said 'it's because he's had to work with the useless last manager's poorly assembled squad. Give him the summer to bring his own players in and a full pre-season and he'll do better'. In both cases, they didn't and were sacked a few months into the season. Do we learn the lesson from the past and swing the axe early when the warning sirens are blasting and give the new manager a shot at a whole summer window and pre-season? Or will that cause even more instability at the club and contribute to our growing basket case reputation, limiting our appeal and possibly causing us to hire a desperation option? I can't imagine there will be quality candidates queuing up to manage us if we did sack Schumacher considering our ever growing reputation for shredding managers' reputations. Here's a few more stats and background to our struggles highlighting just how shit things have been recently. Remember, yesterday was incredibly our first home equaliser since December 2022. Meaning that every single team that managed to take the lead against us at home between then and yesterday had left with the win. Just staggering and unbelievable. Hoever finds Stoke City touch as stats show scale of improvements needed
Still not over last night, this team just never gives up! Not very confident about the derby on Saturday though, with Moore injured and we are also missing Burns a lot. But, if we play like we did in the last 30 mins yesterday, then who knows!
Yes agreed. Our home fixtures aren’t too bad-Watford, Boro and Huddersfield-but our away games are quite brutal with Norwich, Coventry and Hull to come. I think it’s likely we’ll finish 3rd and have to face them up the road in the playoffs. Who knows, if we can conjure up a few more like last night we may still make it. Going to take a massive effort however.
Got to say I'm also keen to get the season done now too. You may be in a similar position to us rebuild wise, suspect we lose Szmodics in the summer and Dolan/Gallagher yet to be tied up, plus the loan players going. We have cash in theory from selling Wharton already and a sell on for Raya pending. I'll be intrigued to see what gets reinvested in the squad as that's the only way we won't be in trouble again next season! Here's hoping for a decent summer for us both!
Still can’t believe yesterday, the loudest I’ve heard a goal at Portman Road in sometime. We weren’t the better of the two until our second and then I could only see it going one way. The ref had finally started to see the 50/50s for what they were and let us play. Hladky deserves a lot of praise for yesterday in my opinion. Saturday is huge, if we can beat them then I’ll be so more confident about top two than I am at the minute.
Similarly we have to go to Coventry and Middlesbrough, which will be big tests, before a final away trip to QPR, which I think will be a really tricky game for us. We also entertain Blackburn and Sunderland (which look easier on paper) before a final showdown with Saints at Elland Road. We are both going to drop points, just depends on who is able to conjure up the most wins.
I don't think we will get anything in the derby on Saturday. That lot have a hoodoo over us and we will probably end up playing them in the play-offs as well.
