Same here, he's just about the only City player I like. Its the fact he's shone in an absolute under performing shitshow of over priced garbage and prima donas like Jackson and Madueke.
I think this one is merited. There's been a lot of consistently good performers all year. Arsenal probably paying for that period of not being able to score. Odengaard and rice would be well up their otherwise. It's a clear signal to Southgate to not pick someone else in the internationals. How he fits saka foden and Bellingham around kane will be key to any hopes. Cue grealish starting every game and flopping about like a trout on a riverbank while foden watches.
I'd personally go... Trent---Rice Saka---Bellingham---Foden Kane Think Palmer will be unlucky as he's pretty much competing with Bellingham, who lets face it will be a deffo starter. The other two Saka and Foden could easily push up and play left and right. Can't leave Rice on his own doing all the sweeping up. Saka always does well for England so cant be left out, Foden needs to be included. You just know Grealish will find a way into the side though...
I'd agree given Southgate has very little other option bar trent. I fully expect either saka or foden to be stat watching grealish jogging infield waiting for a touch to drop.
Player of the season nominations Manchester City's Phil Foden Manchester City's Erling Haaland Newcastle's Alexander Isak Arsenal's Martin Odegaard Chelsea's Cole Palmer Arsenal's Declan Rice Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins Young player of the season . Manchester City's Phil Foden Manchester City's Erling Haaland Newcastle United's Alexander Isak Manchester United's Kobbie Mainoo Chelsea's Cole Palmer Arsenal's Bukayo Saka Arsenal's William Saliba Tottenham's Destiny Udogie
Isak is an odd one especially to be on both lists. Half the ypoty list should not qualify too lol. I'd go Foden for poty & Palmer ypoty
There really should be some sort of appearance / experience cap on the young player awards. You've got players in there with 250-300 career appearances, nominated against players having their first proper season at this level.
Mainoo (also a dodgy inclusion) & Palmer are the only two who should qualify from that shortlist imo everybody else has already had a breakthrough season.
Udogie, like Mainoo, hasn't really been consistent enough to win it but I'm happy enough with his inclusion too. It's his first season in the Premier League and he made his international debut this season so is relatively inexperienced still in addition to this age. Palmer should win it anyway. The rest are fairly experienced now though. It would have been better had they looked for youngsters beyond the top six that would have been more worthy of a nomination as a young player opposed to the others from City and Arsenal (and Isak).
Udogie is borderline eligible for me but he kinda did breakthrough in Italy already. Isak is wild though he's played in about 5 leagues and is mid twenties or something lol.
Manager of the Year shortlist: Pep Guardiola Jurgen Klopp Mikel Arteta Unai Emery Andoni Iraola Please can we keep Sr. Andoni off the radar please. We know he's a bit special but we'd rather he wasn't spoken about in the same terms as the big guns just yet!
Best defence in the league and only conceded 8 goals in 2024 yet no Arsenal defenders nominated. Joke.
