A player who was in and out of the team last season he has really impressed me in the few Villa games I've seen. Tonight in an appalling Villa performance he stood out to me with his non stop running. He was everywhere and was really strong. His distribution weren't great but kept the team together and burst forward when needed. There is talk of him breaking into the Dutch team, dunno bout the team but squad defo.
George has been fantastic so far this season and was playing well towards the end of last season. I think getting the call up for Holland would be great for him. I agree that a place in the squad is probably the best he can hope for. He needs to work on his distribution, too often his passes are either sideways or backwards, but you cannot fault his commitment & work rate.
Cheers Chazza I was well happy with George's performance last nite and his performances since the start of the season. We played particularly badly. Gutted at having gone out but i just don't think we gave it as much as we could have at the end. We needed to throw caution to the wind towards the end of the game and throw alot more players forward than we did. Still, we are still unbeaten in the league and hopefully we can automatically qualify for Europe from the Premiership for next season.
Like Mark Lawrenson said, how on earth did Varteks manage to score 3 goals at Villa Park?! I was really dissappointed by ya, you were awful going forward and very shakey at the back which I was quite suprised about. You seemed to miss the magic man alot. Spam; don't worry about George's distribution. Somehow David Batty managed to play for England and he couldn't even pass the ball sideways. :
