Kane has won the prestigious Aldi Cup. And has a runner up for the league, Champions League and League Cup.
Kane eventually taking the record was clearly inevitable for the last couple of years. I always thought Rooney having the record was a bit skewed given that his goals per game ratio wan't up there with the likes of Lineker, inevitably given he was never an out and out striker. Sure, he scored the goals and that can't be taken away, but whilst he had 5 more than Lineker, he took 40 games more to get them so the record was as much about his longevity in an England shirt as it was his goal scoring prowess. Still, that's an achievement in itself you could say. But for me it's good to see the record is now held by a proper striker with a better than 1 in 2 ratio.
anyone else resigned to Kane leaving this summer? i've seen this dance too many times down the years to even get my hopes up he might stay. Sheringham, Berbatov, Modric, Bale etc... he hasn't signed a new contract yet and tbf to him why would he. a striker of his quality should have many trophies by now. the only team i could realistically see him going to in England is man utd... or could a foreign club come in for him??
I'm not resigned to it just because he's under contract. I think he's far more likely to leave on a free than be sold tbh. Hard to begrudge him a move though. He's been linked with Bayern for a while and much of yesterday's Twitter talk was PSG. I can't see him moving overseas though so Manchester United is his only real option this summer and I doubt they'll pay a high enough fee for us to justify selling him.
I think even Spurs fans would concede that Kane has wasted the prime years of his career at Spurs and probably needs to move on now while he's still one of the best in the world. He should have some medals by now and it's incredibly clear that it's not going to happen for him at Spurs. He should have left 2 or 3 years ago really, if not longer ago. But he absolutely needs to leave this summer.
Needs to move on but I get the feeling he's one of those characters who's quite comfortable where he is. Like Shearer he's the local hero, close to his family and earning a fortune, all while captaining England. Not a bad life even if he does end his career pretty much trophyless.
The six year contract was a mistake and will probably mean he's here for one more year. I'll wish him well when he does move on and hope he does add some trophies to his collection of individual trophies. That said, he's also missed opportunities to win things here. As much as people like to slate Spurs, not many other clubs have had a better platform to succeed. I think Kane would definitely have won something by now had he moved to Manchester City for example but that's not to ignore the four cup finals Kane has already played in, plus countless semi finals on top of that. He'll increase his probability of winning something by moving to a bigger club but it's a shame he hasn't done it here. There have been too many missed opportunities in his time at the club. I don't think he's solely content on staying at Spurs but he recently announced baby number four on the way so there is the dilemma of potentially uprooting his family to go elsewhere. For me, he'll go down as one of the best this country has ever seen even if he fails to win something but I think he'll be disappointed ending his career without anything to show for it. That said, I don't think him leaving for a Bayern or PSG and winning an easy league title is going to really change many opinions of him at this point. Nor would winning an FA Cup or League Cup. The goalposts continually move to discredit Kane so people will then talk about him having never won a Premier League or the Champions League. I don't think he'll be fully satisfied at the end of his career but he's had a better career than many will ever have. Some of the players that have won trophies most people will quickly forget about. I doubt I could name half of the Manchester City players to have "won" a medal in the last ten years.
I wouldn't say or class him like Shearer in the sense of trophies won in his career, Shearer only ever won a League Title with Blackburn Rovers (1994/5) and Kane has won nowt with Spurs, shame really as if he leaves now at his age to think the trophies he could have won if he left Spurs years ago and either played for Real, Barca, Man United/City or other top clubs.
Another 30 goal league campaign FFS. Imagine watching Jimmy Greaves every week and having to wait 50 years for an adequate replacement. I don't want him to ever leave
Remember summer of 2008 with all the speculation surrounding Keane and Berbatov? Photos of training camps, spotting which players were in the photos, who advertised the new shirts etc. It'll be like that again this summer but much worse. Don't trust Levy to get anything right anymore.
Berbatov was forced to train with Spurs back then! I went to a team training session in Rotterdam where he trained on his own and spoke to none of the rest of the team I'm expecting Kane to stay. Purely based on him wanting to stay in the Prem, Levy refusing to sell to a rival, him turning down the very attractive offer at Real, and then him leaving next summer on a free probably to Chelsea.
Kane will stay and leave on a free if he is insistent on staying in England. Daft really. He could go to Bayern, PSG or Real and win some trophies and still come back to England for Shearer's record. He'll play in to his late 30's imo and is young enough that he could go play somewhere else and still have enough time to pass Shearer. Four or five years abroad and then finish off with 2-4 years back in the Premier League.
another 30 goal season... and no one is even talking about him because of the pescy Thor look-alike I think if he goes to Madrid he'll defo win a league title in his career... maybe even a champions league. Real are defo interested now Benzema has gone. if he goes to Utd he'll defo break shearers recordfor sure and he'll win a trophy or two probably but will he win the league?? they havent won the prem since ferguson left ten years ago??
Personally, one more season of guaranteed goals. Without Kane's contribution last season we might have been looking down the barrel of a gun that would cost us significantly more
There's no goal guarantees if Kane's heart isn't in it. I'd prefer either a new contract or a transfer out, players need to be dedicated to the new manager. Kane stank up the place after the City transfer fell through, Eriksen spent half a season being trash waiting for his transfer out.
