I was one of the original members of this forum around 25 years ago, are there many of the original members that still post? I used to turbo post a lot of rubbish back in the day mostly because I was still a young kid and the internet was a very different place back then. I still come back and view this place every now and then but the amount of forums/sub forums always puts me off, seems like everything gets diluted, but who am I to preach? It's still a very popular forum after all this time. I know the likes of StretfordEnd are still on here (who came a bit later on) but are any of this lot still about? The Game BigDave2k Woozee Murno InSite (Joe) Super white Red Devil Pinto GreatWhite Kampso BA (badass) Infidel Theodorewhitmore Geordie Wilky Athers Will be many I've forgotten....
Athers disappeared, Geordie Wilkie disappeared (thankfully as he was a tit), Great White passed away a few years back, sure Ive seen Infidel posting the odd post last few years? Kampso (wasnt he the Man United supporting mod?) he too disappeared. BA is probably sitting in some Mental Institute somewhere What was your username back then? As I see this account is recently (3 years ago) made?
Welcome back A lot has changed over the years so I'll summarise it a bit. - I've popped updates in up there in RED ^^^^ where I can The site has been owned by the Admin team now since 2012 so we're no longer reliant on companies to keep it going just Stret, TAFKAP and me paying to keep it up and running There were a lot of casualties of the 'Fanbanta' regime and the awfulness that their ownership caused, people like OurKid just left - ECFC_Girl walked away too but I'm still in touch with her too - She's a grandma many times over these days and has a lovely husband who's as nuts about Exeter as she is. Last time I saw Mick Grant was at a Nando's in London about 12 years ago but he stopped making awful predictions long before that. I'm still in touch with Sosh but she hasn't used here in a long time. Our door is always open when she's in the UK and hers is open if we're in Sweden and I'm slightly optimistic that one day we might all get together in Cyprus with her and her family James_F is busy building his own football team Basically everyone grew up and got a life
Thanks for the update It was Woozer I meant above (Welsh Cardiff fan) He posted a lot back in the day, sad to hear about GreatWhite, He was always a feisty one, RIP. I'll try and stick around.
I'm impressed this forum has gone on for so long, didn't realise it was that old. I get the "diluted" thing, but it helps people find exactly what they're looking for, but there is a "new posts" page for someone who wants an old forum style with every thread on one page in chronological order.
It's only when I see threads like this that I think about how long I've been on here. I might not have ever been the most popular, or been the most active, but I've shared a lot of stuff on here that even a lot of my family don't know. Maybe it's the comfort of strangers or something.
Yeah it’s 16 years since I first signed up too, though you were 3 months before me. Crazy to think I was 16 and in my last year of school when I first joined.
What gets me when I think about how long I’ve been on this forum - is how much my life has changed & how much of life I’ve been a member I signed up when I was 19 - 19 years ago. So I’ve been a member here half of my life time. When I joined I was 5 months into my first job, single, still living at home and my favourite past time was playing football down the park with my mates (and anyone else who was there) and going out for a few drinks on a Saturday night. Of course that’s changed loads as well. When I first started going out in 01 not only were there loads of pubs & clubs open but you could smoke in them! And you had to be wearing shirt, trousers and shoes (if you were a bloke obviously) to even be allowed in. I’ve left my first job, been self employed, got my current job, bought a flat & moved out, met a girl, moved her in, married her, bought a family sized house, got her pregnant, became a father, beards gone grey & now the boys in Y1 of school - which when typed out oddly seems like nothing much but loads all at the same time. Time & ageing is such a weird thing.
I didn't even realise I'd signed up as long ago as 2008, feels like I've only been using the internet for 5 years. Weird.
…and despite all that changing I’m pretty much still the same size & weight I was at 15 & can still fit into the clothes I used to wear 23 years ago….which not everyone can say.
When I first read the threadtitle about posting here 25 years ago I thought "Hey, nice, another old fart like me " (for me only in living years not in forum years, though ). But then I looked into your profile and saw that you're just 37 years old. So you were 12 back then....so just like @Burg and @JoshBCFC later and now @Garrincha What did I when I was 12? One thing for sure, not being in a football forum on the internet (because there wasn't one) What is it that your family don't know about you? That you love (to play) Sheep?
