I'd be interested to see how many chances we create compared to other teams though I feel like we create so many big chances so stands to reason we'd have the most missed...not that I am defending our forwards they drive me up the wall.

I agree. You create more, you score more, you miss more. It's not the best way to analyse it.

You've got to go through every chance really  But on the face of it, Liverpool are underperforming xg which automatically leads you to poor finishing.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Slot ends up being a level above Amorim.

Yeah I agree tbh just baffling how we went from scoring loads to all our forwards not being able to hit a barn door. Serious witchcraft going on.

Any eredivisie manager is a big gamble and it's easy to say in hindsight but I do think Slot has probably more potential than Ten Hag because he hasn't been brainwashed by the Ajax school. Can't say i've seen that much of Feyenoord in these last couple of years but the few games I've seen they played very good football. Ten Hag's Ajax looked great too mind you, but they had a much bigger budget and a great squad regardless.

Either way, unless you can get Pep and afford to sign £50-60m players in every position in the first 2-3 seasons pretty much any manager will be a gamble after what Klopp achieved there. Even though they fell short in these last couple of weeks the rebuild has already begun, they look a lot better than last season, they have a very good core group of players so it's still looking good for them. Van Dijk and Salah should still have a couple good seasons in them.

I'm hoping a fellow countryman coming in might persuade Van Dijk to stay and perhaps even end his career here. He's not the defender he was, but he's still shit hot and arguably still the best in the league most days.

I agree that keeping van Dijk is important. He is good enough to remain a lynchpin and leader in that defence for another few seasons yet.

Dutch people are weird though, van Dijk might just hate Slot *because* he is also Dutch.

Alisson is the one I am slightly worried about. We do have Keheller, but I fancy one of them, especially the latter to move on.

I don't want the club to get in a position where Keheller moves away this summer, & Alisson desires a change. Qualifying for UCL helps in that regard, & I don't see any real big club with a vacancy at GK.

I can only forsee Alisson maybe fancying going to Real Madrid. But he and Courtois are the same age.

I'd be stunned if Kelleher is still a Liverpool player next season. This Summer is the perfect time to sell, given he has 2 years left and has proven what a great keeper he is.

Who needs a keeper though that's fishing in the right price waters?

    Deal agreed apparently.

Liverpool agree deal to hire Arne Slot as next manager

Life without Jurgen Klopp will be weird, but no player or manager is bigger than the club. Let's see what the next 12-18 months brings. Next season will be all about top 4 then building on it.

They do seem to have a hard on for buying players from the Premier League tbf.

But surely there is some German prick they can give it to?

Kelleher isn’t good enough for Bayern.

    His European record isn't terrible.

I couldn't tell whether thats the limit of those players or whether it's more than their level. Qf last year and last 32 this year with roma taking them out twice.

It's kind of like trying to judge Gerrard based on his rangers record and saying oknits soctland and celtic were awful thst year but they got somewhere in Europe.

The problem is no matter what else the club has to provide the best squad possible and he has to get them fitter and more intense.

As Gerrard proved at villa the step up will be massive and slot will either look like he has a clue or he won't.

I can't say I'm overly excited about this appointment. It's understandable given the dearth of proven quality out there, and I genuinely hope he is a success, but I reckon we're going to be looking at a period more Rodgers than Klopp.

I think you'd be looking at as more subdued set of seasons even if you kept Klopp. The recruitment hasn't quite got it right and for a fair wedge. It'll take time to rectify that.

Firstly for the benefit of others, I was referring to Alisson not Kelleher.

Bayern are still a super club and one that can prove attractive to a player looking for a new challenge. I don't know Alisson's mindset, he may wish to stay at Liverpool forever. But I can see Bayern testing the waters. They're the only club of similar stature who will need a goalkeeper soon-ish.

Slot's got a horrible first window to navigate through with the contract expiry of Van Dijk, Salah and Alexander-Arnold in 2025. Who goes or stays out of those three dictates what happens in the market first imo. I think convincing Trent to stay is probably the first item on the agenda and doing what is necessary should he not sign a new deal.

There's also the temptation (and what I'd do) of cashing in on all three and having a very fresh slate to build your own team and being brave and prepared to take a year hit from the CL to build.

I know nothing about Arne Slot. Apparently he uses a 4-2-3-1 so it will be interesting to see as that formation isn't really a thing at the top level. And obviously the other thing is the recent history of Eredivisie managerial exports. It is not a good track record! McClaren, De Boer, Cocu, Van Bronckhorst, ten Hag.....that's your list of title winners since 2010 who tried new leagues afterwards.
