Watched bits and pieces of the England match and ye looked very impressive from what I saw. The thing is Greece looked as good as ye tonight so it's hard to know how good ye really are. Still certainly better football being played than under Southgate . Also Grealish looks very good and is a very good player I've said before, just not in a guardiola system

Fair enough mate ,but some really encouraging signs in those first two games ,players seem to have a lot more freedom to press up high and compress the opponents play. It just seemed like as soon as a big tournament came along the players looked petrified to push the opponent back too much and risk that counter. I think regardless of the opposition in their first two games England look to be trying things that would have had Gareth popping an ulcer.

I agree it's early days and time can make fools of us all ,but I like football played the right way and there were definitely glimpses of good football on show tonight and I think it will just get better and more cohesive under Carsley.

I hope you're right, and I've no doubt we'll see plenty of attacking football, especially in the early months of his tenure. Obviously I want that too, but the majority of teams who win major tournaments do so by building on a solid defence and it worries me he'll be too naive and gung-ho. There was clearly a method to the previous approach and whatever anyone says it worked in tournament football. It'll be interesting to see how pragmatic Carlsey becomes as he gains experience at the top level. I think he could get a few wake up calls along the way if we face anyone decent, but if the end result is more attractive football while still getting to the latter stages of tournaments then happy days.

The FA are basically going to have to make a decision on Carsley off the back of six pretty meaningless games. Presumably he'll win the majority (if not all) of them, so I can't really see them looking elsewhere.

So van Hecke will be introduced, and Oranje will never make a mistake again? Come on man. Making a single big mistake in a game is no reason to write a CB off. Everyone is human and will eventually make a mistake. The key is making fewer than the opponent. Attackers can wastefully make wrong decisions, shoot badly and give the ball away 10 times in a single game, yet if they get on the scoresheet once, then they've had "a good game" for some reason. Why if defenders win duels against their opponents 10 times, yet looks foolish once, then they're already worthless?

Overall, I have to admit the Dutch defence looked more solid than ours, but the Germans were otherwise slightly better. 2-2 and fair result in the end.

And plenty build it on a creative midfield and attack like the last 2 Argentina and Spain. Southgates cautious approach didn't work and ye more than likely wouldn't have got to 2 finals if ye had played a team ranked in the top ten before that. Ok there was the Netherlands and ye scraped that with a dodgy pen. And ye were impressive in that game when ye went all out attack in the first half.I would say its more important to work on the creative area especially in international football where defending is easier anyway

Yeah, took a few passes to find his range, but once he did he pretty much created every goal scoring chance England had.

Thought both Kane and Rice looked much brighter, it was good seeing Rice burst forward more often than under Southgate.

First Ive seen of Gomes, looks a tidy little player too. England truly have a huge talent of real good players, just need a coach that knits them together and has them performing to their ability, something we looked like in the second half tonight.

Love that Carsley didnt bow to pressure from the gammons about singing the NA, personal choice, if he doesnt want to, shouldnt be forced to, he's there to coach the team not be a politician.

That is my hypothesis on all national teams using Brighton players, yes.

Germany would almost certainly have won if either undav or gross still played for us

    :D

And now with Hürzeler as Manager, Brighton will play at least in the CL next season.;)

Seriously, Undav and Groß made a good game. Undav came for Füllkrug in the starting lineup (first time for him) and scored a goal and had an assist. Perfect. Groß reliable as usual. I'm a fan of him tbh.

Intense match as always between Germany and the Netherlands. 2-2 was okay, although we had 60-40 ball possession and 21-11 shots on goal and this as the away team.

But the Italian Referee was a catastrophe. Directly after the final whistle (when the Referee blew the whistle just when we had a good chance for a shoot made Nagelsmann furious (like at another few scenes before where he made a wrong call) that he ran right onto the pitch to shout at him :D

An Italian Referee at Netherlands vs Germany. You can't make this up:laugh: (4 yellows against German players but none against the Dutch. Tbh I thought he'd give some more after the final whistle in the above scene but he didn't ;) )

edit: Just read that the 0-1 of Reijnders in the 2nd minute was the earliest goal against us since 50 years!

Yes but Southgate sang the NA. Surely the public demands someone who will sing his heart out to the King.:worship:

After watching an enjoyable style of play where we created chance after chance, I wish the FA would re-hire Southgate as manager just so they can sack him again. Our style of play at the Euros was flat out football terrorism. Who cares if we got to 2 finals, we ultimately won nothing with it, too defensive.

Lee Carsley has my vote to stay on if he wants to. That was the most I've enjoyed an England game in a very long time. Carsley's knowledge of the quality young players is invaluable. Plus he realises our strength is in attack, and also the importance of feeding it with our most creative player... Trent was unreal. 5 chances created, played a big part in both goals.

Yeah, said the same thing to me bird after the game ended, its the first time in a while I've actually enjoyed watching England play. Second half in partucular we just seemed to want to attack, attack and attack some more. Under Boregate, it would have been go up 1-0 then drop in two number 6's sitting 5 yards in front of the back four, fullbacks in our own half and Kane playing on the halfway line

Definitely feels like they will be allowed to play with more freedom and attack if he got the job .

Mind you Carsley has probably been put off by the fuss over the national anthem.

Trent played RB where he belongs and Motm in both games. Hope that loser Southgate is watching at home.

Best thing I noticed from that game was that there was not one back pass to the keeper that I can remember, certainly not one coming from our own attacks which we used to see regularly.

Wasnt fussed on Carsley, mainly because I'd never really watched a team coached by him, plus the Everton factor of course ;) but gets the thumbs up from me.
