Still waiting to find out which players are going to be released this summer. Will be looking to see which loan players this season we may try to buy permanently. I'd expect all fans would say we should try and keep Targett and Mitrovic. Both have solved a long standing problem at LB and Main Striker. Targett - reports have said West Ham are interested in signing him from Southampton Mitrovic - reports say Newcastle asking £20m and will wait to see if World Cup brings a bidding war. Kalas - Chelsea reported as wanting £10m, which seems over priced to me as he may not end up being a first choice CB in the Premier. Norwood - good utility player, but I wouldn't take him unless fee was low or free, as he tended to slow our game down which gave opposition time to get back and defend in depth. Piazon - Depends on the fee Chelsea want, feel Piazon is worth keeping as he gives us a different type of player in midfield then we normally have. (Plays a bit like Oscar used to do at Chelsea). Sheyi Ojo - feel he was more of a lone player than a team player, can't see us keeping him. Sad to say but I think Cauley Woodrow and George Williams will both be released as neither featured and were loaned out. Ibrahima Cisse and Rui Fonte may be sold to make way for new players as they haven't come up to scratch in the Championship. Most papers are touting Ryan Fredericks to West Ham, which might happen, he is out of contract and had a chance to sign a new one but refused to do so since January. In January we signed Cyrus Christie from Boro as a Right-back and still have Dennis Odoi and young Steven Sessegnon who can play in that position
I think Mitro could well be a goer, would be great to get him back. Failing that, Rondon at WBA would be a good shout for me, though he might be seen as a bit too old. Would love Targett back too, but he gave the impression that the final was his last game. Saints will probably use him if Bertrand goes. Norwood, Kalas and Piazon I would take if we could get good deals, but only that. I really liked Norwood but we need better and the same could probably be said of the other two. I forgot Cisse existed to be honest . On that alone he’s probably off. Fonte might stay, the Premier League May suit him more and think he wants to prove himself, but I would not shed many tears if he left. Fredericks is the only player I can definitely see leaving to be honest, but Christie is more than adequate. We need a CB, probably a holding midfielder to rival/support KMac, a winger or two, and a striker if we can’t get Mitro (or even if we can). We’re not far off a very competitive squad though, in my opinion.
Improved loads, was a very useful Championship player and is rapid. How much that is down to our style of play I don’t know though, and he’s a bit defensively shaky and has a habit of losing his temper. Whether he’ll make the step up I’m not sure. Certainly worth a go for free though IMO, could do a lot worse if not for an impact sub alone.
For me Fredericks best asset is his speed to get behind defences, though he had a lot of assists his crossing can be erratic. Both his temper and defending are suspect when put under pressure.
Looks like Button might be on his way to Brighton.... Also, new contracts for Cairney and REAAAAAAM. New signings would be nice but it’s good we’ve got some good news at least!
