What a result!!!! That is a huge victory even at this early stage Let’s see how Lage gets on. Personally happy with that appointment!
Secured Conrad Harder as Gyokeres’ understudy. Very happy with that one even if the Portuguese media are trying to spin it as way overpriced. Brighton were interested in him so that will undoubtedly have inflated his price, but I like the look of him and fits exactly what we needed
Any of you guys caught Sporting/Lille in midweek? Watched the first half not expecting much but Lille looked ok until the opening goal and then Angel Gomes stupidly got sent off. So typical of a French side in the CL just falling apart even when the opposition is not trying that hard! Was surprised by the lack of atmosphere at Sporting though. It's maybe the mikes but it sound dry and empty on television. Sporting isn't every year in the CL so I expected the place to be rocking. Shame.
Another win last night. Great to see Harder get a start and a goal to go with it. Gyo doing his usual too! I couldn’t watch the game so just watched the highlights unfortunately. Good win for us as this is the type of game we need to be winning to start performing a bit better in Europe. Yeah on the highlights it didn’t sound great atmosphere wise, hopefully a one off as the place is usually bouncing as you said
Harder and Gyokeres appears to be a strike force entirely built around me being angry. I’m half expecting you to sign a 50 year old Scott McGleish to complete the set.
I’m still surprised we got Harder with your apparent interest. I’m almost 100% sure we lose Gyokeres next summer so I suppose he saw it as a good opportunity to become the main man
I’m surprised Amorim is still in charge given how well he’s done. I know he was linked to Liverpool before Slot was given the job but I thought someone else on the continent might’ve been interested.
Still seems a bit surreal. Could possibly be argued that we’ve had better starting 11s before, yet everything is just clicking Me too. I have a strong feeling he ends up at United when they sack Ten Hag. I just sincerely hope he gets a proper crack at whatever job he moves on to. He obviously started off very strongly by winning the title, but to then finish 2nd, lose some quality players and have a transitional season, then going on to win the title again and now we look even better has got to be a sign of a great manager.
I don't think there will be much debate about who wins the league this year, Sporting is so far ahead of the rivals in quality of their game. Benfica though, has absolutely insane quality in options up front, but i'm not conviced defensively, I think any decent team will put us on the spot
Can’t believe I’m disappointed with a 2-0 win Daniel Braganca is having a brilliant season so far. Always rated him but felt he was a player for specific games. 8 games 3 goals and 2 assists is a massive improvement in output for him
Taça de Portugal time! I love this phase, playing smaller teams, and who knows Your team playing near home
Another great win tonight but such a shame for Nuno Santos. When we’ve got stars like Gyo, Pote (great to have him back) and Trincao I think it goes massively under the radar how much Nuno offers us. Really didn’t look good and I doubt we’ll see him again this season unfortunately
What an unbelievable send off for Amorim and a complete testament to the team he’s created. 2-0 down away at Braga, make it 2-2 on 80 minutes and go on to win 4-2!!! Incredible turnaround and with Benfica smashing Porto it’s opened up a nice gap at the top. Amorim leaves here an absolute club legend and it’s going to be very difficult not seeing him back in the dugout again
Said it before but the team he built is easily the best side I've seen in this league since I first started taking an interest. 2 quality players in every position. It'll be interesting to see what spin João Pereira puts on it, if he tries to change anything at all. A lot will depend on what happens in January obviously.
