I wish him all the best and it's preferable him moving to a Ange led Spurs than a Conte one, at least he will have a fair crack at it there. Sent from my SM-A047F using Tapatalk
We did well to keep Johnson as long as we did. He had opportunities to desert us when we were in the doldrums of the Championship and stuck with us and ultimately played a major part in getting us into the position we are in now. I have no qualms with him heading off to better himself and to build his career at a club that is ready to propel him to the next level. I'm just glad we got a fair fee for him (and by fair I mean inflated based on the current market) and have been able to reinvest in the entire squad on the back of that
This proved very scaringly true so far. We are still desperate for a keeper and losing out on Henderson is a huge miss. Aina has proved an excellent free and Toffolo has stepped up but we are definately not stronger in that position without Lodi. Selling Johnson for Elanga was very much like for . Bringing Hudson-odoi in was another good move but I still think we need at least one more wider striker. Up front has proved as I suggested, I do like wood more than most and Origi at least gives us an alternative to the end of the season but he's far from great. I don't think this is the priority for January as I don't want us to sign many this time around but definately one for the summer. Wood is out of contract and I personally would extend it by a couple of seasons.
The goalkeeper situation is key in January. Matt Turner is a competent shot stopper but every time the ball is played to his feet, I'm trying to crawl up my own arse. I'm finding the Greek really hard to decipher as he seems to have offered nothing so far - be interesting to see how this all pans out considering our boss was a goalkeeper. We need cover for the wide players, agree with that. I'd have to question the point about Johnson though - after 20 matches Elanga is on 4 goals and 6 assists whilst Johnson was on 4 goals and 1 assist at the same point last season. I'd call that an upgrade at this stage! I'd previously thought we'd need cover for Awoniyi but Wood is starting to win me over and I think Nuno is really going to be getting the best out of him. Be nice if Nigeria went out of the AFCON early doors though By the sounds of it, we are going to be busier with outgoings than incomings as Nuno has already said he's never worked with such a big squad. The sudden dropping of Toff (undeserved in my opinion) could suggest he's not winning Nuno over so he could be one to be sent out on loan and despite him reappearing on the bench, I'd expect Worrall to be wanting to make a move if he is wanting game time.
