don't forget Mali. you know the place with all the gold in Africa or what about the maya in Americas or India? or the Chinese? the song Dynasty. I'm sure that of course none of these fit the western criteria as acceptable answers.
The only country here who has an argument about being richer on a per capita basis in 1200/1300 is Italy, but I have doubts about the studies on their wealth due to significantly less evidence of labour saving technology employed vs northern Europe, as for the rest, nope not richer on a per capita basis than England was. The idea that we only got rich after the 16/1700s is clearly nonsense when we're the country that has the deepest evidence of advanced energy sources employed at scale compared to anywhere else in earth. From a gdp/cap perspective the Mongol empire was exceptionally poor, even for that time period, they just had a massively outsized military advantage due to their horses coupled with some of the greatest generals to ever live.
I presume the word "here" means sort of near the UK so the Chinese Dynasty the Malian empire (who apparently were so dripping in gold they couldn't move) or the Indians don't count so ignore all that and let's have 2nd best behind Italy.
I've heard 2 separate quotes attributed to bojo the clown prime minister during the Covid crisis.....One went something like "Covid is natures way of dealing with old people" and the other "whoever dies dies, they have had a good innings" I'm sure this will go a long way to comforting people who lost loved ones? Jail the bastard....and all his party going cronies. If Smarmer has an ounce of nous, he will may political hay of the stuff coming out from medical advisors?
I genuinely f**king hate Tories and everything they stand for. And yes, that includes the c***s who vote for them. If he really did say that, he should be publicly shamed in every way possible. And talking of voting for them..... I see the Tory c***s have one eye on the general election and are starting a bribery campaign only the monumentally stupid will fall for. Unfortunately, we have a lot of such people in this country.
According to one calculator page I went on following the statement, whose overly smug delivery meant I turned off within about two minutes of switching it on, Hunt's changes today will make me around £245 better off next year. Less than £5 more in my pocket a week. It wouldn't even buy me a decent pint in my friends' bar. They are finished and they know it.
£860 a year better off between myself and the wife. It could be £20k and I still wouldn't vote for these cnuts.
Austerity warning for public services after tax cuts The average family to be £1,900 worse off over the life of this parliament. Tax cuts funded by real-time cuts in the public sector. I guess the idea is that the blame for reduced services will fall on local councils and other service providers rather than central government.
So the Government are sorry for mistakes made but think they didn’t actually make any important ones ? Boris Johnson to apologise to Covid inquiry but say he got big calls right
