Klopp on Elliott : "It's in his hands. I like much more the offers he made today. He was really sharp, he was quick, he offered different runs to what he's usually doing. Inside this little boy is a play-maker, but he has to be a finisher, a striker and a defender." - not asking much of him then!
According to some twitter guy I've never heard of : "A reserve side including Milner, Origi, Shaqiri, Matip, Karius, Wilson and Brewster - played out a 1-1 draw with Huddersfield B in a secret friendly on Sunday. Taki Minamino scored for the Reds; most of those to feature will start in League Cup." Interesting if true, and would be good for all those players to get more fitness going forward - interesting to note that Karius played...
No, when he got concussed in the CL final. He was treated appallingly. I remember Henderson walking past him when he was distraught on the ground at the final whistle. Poor lad had been concussed. The fans then let him have it on social media too. I always really liked the "You'll Never Walk Alone" but it seemed contrived and meaningless after the way he was treated.
You mean by idiots on Twitter? Now there is a surprise. As for the players, what could they have said or done with him at the end of the game; he was inconsolable - pat him on the head patronisingly? And those who went to the preseason games which he appeared afterwards all said they got behind him, but his nerves were shot clearly and he had to move on, and then when Liverpool saw there was a chance to get Alisson, that was it.
I like to think I would have been a good contestant on Roy Walkers Catchphrase. What I mean is - I say what I see.
Kelleher played the u23 game v everton and did ok at that level. It would be more interesting that Adrian didn't play. I would also be interested to see what the score with brewster is.
Kelleher doesn't look ready or good enough yet. Perhaps Adrian has a niggle we haven't heard. On Brewster, there are reports of a bid being accepted by Sheffield United. If thats the case and Origi is also possibly moving on, surely we are signing a forward this window?
yeah, 100% kelleher is never going to be a prem player. He seems to like to play the ball about but at the basics of being a solid keeper he's got a huge way to go. I could see him being loaned out but I can't really see karius being kept at the same time. I would agree with you. If we actually sell origi ( the story doesn't look right to me) and we do look to be moving brewster (he might want to go to play not be a loanee in the champ) then we are absolutely bare for options as a no 9. I don't know about our options here. Mane is a clear left forward, cut inside etc type player. Keita was played in a quasi 4231 and played quite well in that inside left type pocket Jones could do it for a bit. Origi is the clear "second choice" for left wing. Ox is the last resort for me. Salah is the right wing option with shaqiri and elliott and again ox as last resort. Frimino is firmino. Origi has played, minamino has played, neither do the same thing. If we see us sell say; wilson (one forgotten option) origi, brewster then that has to net something like 55 million. looking at u23s and I don't see an obvious one. glaztel is not it. So what other formations could we go to if we lost one of the front 3 to injury? 41212? minamino or ox or whoever as that no 10 role and then pull mane and salah in as a strike partnership? 4231? stick salah up top and try and work around him. (that puts keita/firmino lw or mane/frimino rw and hurts those players. what if salah got injured for 3 months??
Ajax up tomorrow. Konate's back but Diaz, Matip, Keita, Thiago, Arthur, Jota still out Would go with Alisson Trent Gomez Konate Robertson Fabinho Henderson Elliott Firmino Nunez Salah
Yeah they didnt bother registering because they thought he would be out longer. Good job he didnt play last night to be honest as he'd have probably picked up a knock and out for 6 weeks again Returned just in time as it looks like Henderson will be struggling for the weekend.
Game against Brighton on 29 Jan, would like to rest all the XI but there's another week before next PL game so no need, just rest some Injured: Diaz, Jota, van Dijk, Arthur, Firmino Alisson Trent Konate Nat Robertson Bajcetic Henderson Thiago Elliott Nunez Ox Kelleher, Gomez, Matip, Tsimikas, Keita, Fabinho, Salah, Gakpo, Carvalho
Play the strongest possible 11. Fa Cup is realistically our best chance at salvaging something from this season.
2nd leg against Real Injured: Henderson, Bajcetic, Ramsey, Thiago, Diaz, Gomez, (Keita) What I would play Alisson Trent Konate van Dijk Robertson Elliott Fabinho Henderson Salah Jota Nunez Kelleher ,Tsimikas, Matip, Keita, Milner, Carvalho, Firmino, Gakpo, Ox? (Maybe start Milner?) We can't give up, must try our hardest and not rest anyone
Wow! Considerable lack of interest since the CL defeat. Not that arsed with foooty in general if truth be told.
