Blimey, looking at the time of this post, did you pen that in a cab on the way back from a clubbing session yourself!?
Was solid enough defensively but offered zilch going forward which didn't fit into Hinshelwood's plans. Seems very likable as a person too
In talks with a 'keeper on the books of a L1 club and a striker with National League experience. Probably wrong, but can't see past Tshimanga.
Our local journo has squashed the Amos rumour, apparently priority in our remaining recruitment seems to be aimed at attacking areas. It does worry me that we have no left back cover though, but we will probably square peg Billy Sass-Davies into the role if anything happens to Fergie.
Which makes it all the more puzzling we got rid of Burton who was left footed, ok a centre back but he was good on the ball and had some pace, was more of a FB than centre half to me. Don't think Sass-Davies is a goer at LB. Probably Stephenson or Darcy would have to fill in there. Not ideal if your goal is getting promoted.
Just cannot see how we're going to afford Tshimanga without movement for Peterborough, we not going to be splashing the cash like some other teams. Think we're much more likely to get someone on loan as a back-up.
Parkes has filled in at LB a few times last season, another not ideal situation but it's cover. Think Mottley-Henry will sign if his injury isn't too severe.
I think, and this is just my personal opinion, the longer this drags on the more likely Tshimanga will end up with us. Just based on If he is going to move to another EFL club, Peterboro are rumoured to be asking too much for a perm, then it has to be before the end of the EFL transfer window. If he is still there after that, then a loan move to the NL will be their only option to reduce their wage bill and move him out at all. COSU have offered a deal,'Boro want a higher percentage of wages, we won't go higher. However, if he is still there post transfer Window and they don't get a better offer than us, they will have to come down, or we move onto another of our options. However, it has been reported that Tshimanga wants to come to us. If he does and does well, he will still have a year left on his contract and it may help 'boro get a higher fee for him. Maybe even us if we go up. Of course, all the above will burst into flames when he is reported to have moved to Cambridge or the like in the next 48 hours lol.
Conor Wilkinson looks set to leave Col U, we might turn to him if this Tshimanga saga goes on any longer at stalemate.
MacAnthony has said they have accepted bids from 2 National League sides but Tshimanga is holding out for a League two team. 'The alternative would be a season of Under 21 football at the end of which no-one might want you.'
Yeah, we saw that too. ITK reckons only L2 club to come forward so far is Swindon. Interestingly, Posh signed a player from Swindon last saeason, so there could be a balance of that deal bought into a possible one from the Robins. However they have fallen way short of the asking price Posh are demanding for a perm. So the article was seen as a bluff by MacAnthony to jog some action along from Tsh and his agent. However having trained with us, if a suitable move does materialise before the deadline Tsh was reportedly very keen on the option we have proposed, after seeing the set up, speaking to Kev and the team and of course COSU's plans for the future. It's very much a wait and see, and COSU will not be forced into offering what we cannot afford, which is refreshing in itself, hence we are also looking at other targets. So it's a case of wait and see from both parties as far as we are concerned.
Oh TC9 does make me laugh, the X account that tours message boards of clubs and adds bits to the posts and claims them as rumours. We've been discussing Macualey Bonne over the weekend and come to the conclusion he a no for us as he wouldn't drop that far then low and behold TC9:
Southend paying another fee this time for a Wealdstone player I hear, Striker not sure who. Absolutely going for it.
