How much of their early season success can be attributed to having the best keeper the Premiership has ever seen organising their defence? OK - he won't make the vital breakthrough in terms of goalscoring but surely confidence starts from the keeper and works it's way through the rest of the team. His signing could be the saving of Gregory.
I think The Great Dane has undoubtedley helped organise our team & bring some confidence into the dressing room. The departure of the outspokenly unsettled players such as Southgate & Ehiogu must also have improved the atmosphere. A lot also has to be said for Gregory's summer signings & the added strength in depth we have. Olof Mellberg looks to have formed a pretty formidable partnership with Alpay and the two have been among our best players so far. Kachloul has looked impressive & seems to be thriving on playing with better players. With players like Hadji, Barry & Balaban on the bench & the possibility of more signings to come, I think we can look forward to a pretty successful season.
im very pleased with the early season form and think that schmeichel has been a good signing both on and off the pitch.all other new signings have impressed me and if we can start to turn the draws into wins we will have a very good season. The highlight has been the form of Vassell for me tho he always had the talent just needed to add goals to his game and is now doing this.
The signing of Schmeichel will no doubt have been a boost to Villa as he is a born winner and he will no doubt gee the lads up. Their 3-1 win over Liverpool surprised me and maybe is an indication of how far they have come in recent weeks under Gregory. Villa for Europe perhaps?
