Harsh I think. I think they looked a good team but our pressing would cause any side problems right now, and they couldn't play their usual game. On 75 minutes, they clearly did settle for a point, but it's a good point for them, so don't blame them.
I'll see you Leicester and Watford and add Middlesbrough. Leeds to a point too and Rotherham I'll forgive given their circumstances! Southampton and Ipswich I like today. Still, at least Stoke won, that's the best you can do, better than relying on others to trip up. We did ourselves in the 1st 20 mins. 2nd half better and should have really taken a draw. Huge games against Milwall and Plymouth next, both at home. Do wonder how much Tues v Newcastle took out of us but got to do better than the start we had at Swansea.
Give us the wins we should’ve had at home to Millwall and hull and we are only 3 points off top. What a disaster February was for us.
Feeling quite confident about visiting St Mary's at the minute, but at the same time, Southampton have the players to smash anyone in this league 5-0 without even playing well.
Last 6 form predicted table. Ipswich 104 Leeds 102 Leicester 95 Southampton 87 Last 6 form and seasonal form combined predicted table. Ipswich 101 Leeds 99 Leicester 98 Southampton 89 Second table probably more realistic of a guide, but now our seasonal form advantage is so low it doesnt overcome our poor recent form, I think we no longer favourites personally.
Still fuming . Oh well we've got to sort our own shit out and not rely on others. Leeds away on Tuesday, time to get our own surprise win. Won't happen but that's how we have to think. Nice to be proven wrong for once . We definitely deserved it overall, second half in particular we were completely on top and you didn't lay a glove on us. However in the first 15 minutes our usual frailties and fragile confidence were on display and despite being dominant with the ball we looked vulnerable whenever you came forward and could have been 2-0 down if you'd taken your chances. Had we lost today with the other results going against us I think it would have hammered the final nail in confidence wise and we'd have been done. So this win could be absolutely enormous. Poor starts and making mistakes to give goals away after being on top have been recurring themes of our season. Poor starts and sloppy mistakes giving the game away before we've had chance to play our way into the game. What was really noticeable was how things changed once we got in front. The confidence surged through the team and you could really feel it flowing into all parts of our game. Hopefully this gives us the lift we needed and we can build on it. Leeds away is pretty much the last game you'd want following on from this but that's the hand we've been dealt and QPR got a result at Leicester today. There's nothing to lose we just have to go for it.
Could have ended 0-1 one way or the other but a draw was a fair result. Preston pressed us well to limit our movement on the ball, but I do miss Delap upfront who can create some space, and Connolly can score goals when we need it. Both are huge misses. Billy Sharp is sadly the equivalent of bringing a training cone on...not even doing enough to be a fox in the box.
Just seen the red card for Dion. That ref and possibly Matt Le Tissier are the only people who would have sent him off. Disgraceful..
Was a crazy game, two teams that looked like scoring every time they went forward, two defences who looked like they’d just seen a football for the first time ever!! I haven’t seen any replays or anything, but their first goal looked absolutely miles offside, then the sending off, bizarre, looked like they ran into eachother!! I don’t think we deserved to win, on the balance of play Southampton were much better than us, but the red card definitely swung it in their favour, 11v11 I think we get a draw. Right in the shit now, again, be typical Blues to get new owners, a manager everyone likes then get relegated and lose the manager to ill health.
I hope they get 1,000,000 points deducted and busted down to the Leicester U9 league where they are only allowed 1 player and he has to stand on 1 leg In all seriousness all we can do is our job, which we did yesterday. Nothing we can do about other results. Apparently we played quite well - anyone confirm/deny that?
