Really interesting set of fixtures to begin with. Big game straight away for Southend and York.

We're starting the season with a few knocks from pre-season - Browne (hopefully not something I'll be saying often) will be a miss but our big positive seems to be the depth of our squad, so we should be able to cover him well-enough especially as we have kept hold of Kanu.

Pleased to get a visit to the Shay out of the way before the rugby and rain kicks in. Am sure we'll be tested at times but if we keep our pre-season form up we should be able to keep them out and nick a goal or two.

Easy win for you lot. Several key players missing and we can’t score a goal to save our lives. 2/3 nil I’d say.

First game of a new era. I always think we melt in the big games...
I think this game has comes a couple weeks too early for us.. predicting a narrow loss.

Away to Boreham Wood. Wish me luck that I get out of there awake after seeing them time waste for 90 minutes.

Weirdly the game itself is almost irrelevant to you lot, it's more of a party day I would guess to finally rid the Martin stench, I remember when we got rid of previous bad owners and it's a relief that's nowhere near the levels you will all be experiencing, I'm gutted I can't be there to kind of join in the festivities

Guess work, start of the season before the rot or good form sets in. Barnet have a stronger starting 11 and much more quality on the bench. No idea if Halifax will be any good. Hope to get off to a win

Toughest start in the league. Expect it will take a few games to get up to speed. Would take a draw.

I also cannot attend which is a shame. I'll be there for the next home game, Boston on a Tuesday night which I'm sure will be the hangover from the party Saturday haha

Shame, it's going to be a massive day and like Shrimphur, l am gutted l am missing it. Still highlights and stream on TV, with this new deal I hope. Expecting a new face maybe two to boost squad numbers this week. Not expecting a result like last season's opener, but hoping for a better result against you guys this time round in both fixtures. Fan spruce up of the Hall this Friday, so the atmosphere is much changed. looking forward to this season getting underway.

After reading through this last page it sounds like the attendance at Southend v York is gonna be about 1200.
Is there anyone on here who actually IS going to it?

Home to Hartlepool, the only interesting thing about the game is Darren Sarll returning to Huish Park.

    Team news? No idea.

Score prediction: Your guess is as good as mine.

You lot going to be any good this season? Feel like I’ve read a lot of doom and gloom from your fans on here expecting a poor season, but some of our supporters on Shotsweb seem to think you’re going to be right up there. Any decent signings? Looking forward to our trip down to Somerset in September

De ja Vu of a newly promoted side up first.
Boston will have some confidence after promotion and being at home. But I'd like to think we are a bit better prepared than last season. I'm hopeful of a opening day win for the first time in 5 years.
Starting XI probably same as the side that put 5 past Salford at the weekend.

PSF don't count for much of course but some of the play in that game was excellent and showed what we missed in so many games last season where we dominated possession but fannied around and created little chances. Replicate that up in the real games and someone will get a hiding. Might not be Saturday. I'd be happy with a scrappy 1-0 to set us off.

It's a TIFO day too! Tifo planned for Saturday’s game!

Tifo (Italian: [ˈtiːfo]) is the phenomenon whereby tifosi of a sports team make a visual display of any choreographed flag, sign or banner in the stands of a stadium, mostly as part of an association football match.[1]

Tifo is most commonly seen in important matches, local derbies, and rivalries, and although the tradition originated at club teams, some national teams also have fans that organise tifo on a regular basis.[2] Tifo is primarily arranged by ultras or a supporter club to show their love to the club,[3][4][5] but are sometimes sponsored or arranged by the club itself

Don’t think the blackout applies this weekend as it’s outside the premier league season. Hence why there’s a 3pm game on DAZN, and there’s also Football League games at 3pm on Sky. Believe this is the only weekend of the season that this applies
