Not convinced he's a better shot stopper (or worse). But he's undoubtedly better (calmer) with the ball at his feet and coming for crosses.
It's all part of Arteta's plan to copy Pep. Pep changed GKs early on in his City tenure too. Arteta is almost to the point of shaving his head and talking to empty chairs..
Here's a clue, Arsenal's first team Head of Goalkeeping is Iñaki Caña Pavón, who joined from Brentford in December 2019
I think ramsdales a better keeper (very marginal though). I thought the bolded bit was the reason arteta bought him to the club.
Raya? Yeah it was. It's hard to quantify how much better or worse Raya has been. Yes, this season we have been better defensively than last season....but then last season Ramsdale didn't have the pressing unit in front of him that we have today. Or Declan Rice. It's not a fair comparison because it hasn't solely been Ramsdale out, Raya in and everything better. Rice and Havertz have both made big contrbutions defensively this season. But I do think Raya's on the ball composure allows us to be in control more.
Declan rice has been immense everytime I’ve seen him play. Chuffed he’s done so well at yours (I’ll always be a fan) though in no way surprised. He is a genuine world class player and still improving. Likely be the next England capt when Kane retires as well
For the last few months, Ársenal have been looking to find something that sums up the club in an artistic statement. They have decided and announced they are going to put up at 20 foot statue at the front of the ground of a fan reading texts on his phone.
Ramsdale is a decent keeper but seems to have a few issues with the mentality needed for a top keeper...seems a bit of a Loris Karius, you're just expecting some huge mistake every time you see him play.
He mistakes playing a ball out into the middle of the goal for a great save them goes mad celebrating like he's pulled off a Gordon banks.
