When was the last time Spurs failed to pick up a win against Arsenal, Chelsea and West Ham in a single season?

We've been poor of late, no doubt. BUT despite that we have matched last season's points tally and still have four games to play. We have scored more goals than this point last year, and have conceded fewer. This while dealing with a new manager, a new style of play (the antithesis to what the players have had drilled into them for the past few years) and losing Harry Kane. While we're going through that kind of transition, it's surprising we're where we are to be honest.

Ange isn't the Messiah and there are some glaring issues we need to sort out if we're to move forward, but you don't fix anything changing manager every five minutes.

So the question is if we get rid of Ange, who comes in? And if what Ange has achieved given what he's had to deal with isn't enough, what is?

Grim. Ready for this season to be done and start fresh next season.

Nobody leaving this summer needs any involvement for the remaining games. If you're moving players on then just replace them with some kids on the bench.

Seeing us throw Gil on (who wasn't bad in his cameo) feels daft when you know players like that have no future beyond this season.

Would have like to have seen Moore given a cameo appearance tbh

Ange has made improvements for sure over the Conte, Nuno and Mourinho years but there is glaring issues that should hopefully be ironed out. Set pieces are an obvious issue, as is leadership going missing in big games. I'd have bitten your hand off for 5th last summer, it just feels like a disappointing end after the great start to the season.

Four games left. We'll probably lose three and beat City just to compound the miserable finish to the season.

    Same.

I agree it's been a disappointing end to the season, and I'm as deflated as anyone that we haven't managed to keep at least some of the momentum we had early on.

It's also true that we have some glaring issues, particularly in defence. Ange won't be blind to that at all, but he's hardly going to go into detail with the press (or even necessarily his players) at this stage of the team's development.

Right now his focus has to be on the change of style and philosophy and making that second nature. That's why defending set pieces isn't a priority for him right now because every hour he spends on that is an hour his players aren't having the press, the fast pace, the high line and positioning drilled into them.

This season is all about getting the team to fully buy into the style, and the details come after that. Give them too many details to think about in training today, and nothing changes quickly because there's too much to focus on.

I don’t care mate, what we should be looking first and foremost is how we play. We’ve gone backwards for a while now and the games we won have often been mediocre. Our patterns of attacking play don’t work and our defence is a shambles. Not to even mention our set pieces situation.

Always same at Leicester whenever i seen him, not consistent enough despite the obvious talent.

Maybe do need to concentrate on their set play defending?

The manager didn't think it was a problem but obviously is..

Chelsea becoming good again is making this a really boring end to the season. Villa getting the champions league is the only interesting outcome

Agreed. Getting rid of Ange isn't an option.

This is a work in progress. Arteta (4.5 seasons at Arsenal), Klopp (8.5 seasons at Liverpool) and Guardiola (8 seasons at City) weren't a success from day one. Arteta in particular has taken time to get Arsenal where they are at the moment.

Last night was particularly bad but there have been reasons for optimism this season. Getting rid of another manager and starting over is stupid if Spurs fans aren't willing to even give a manager a season before the pressure ramps up. We'll just be in the same place in 12 months time when the next manager hasn't been hugely successful.

Ange hasn't had a free pass this season. If we'd finished midtable, out of contention for the European places he'd have been gotten rid of but the goal at the start of the season was progress. We finished 8th last season, we've progressed. I think he's largely getting judged now for having had too good a start to the season. Had it been a more modest start I think most people would be happy with the season as a whole.

I think what might be slightly concerning for Spurs under Ange this season, despite the fact they've undoubtedly progressed in the league, they have not had a sniff in either cup competition despite being out of Europe.

Spurs will have played 9 fewer games this season in all competitions vs last season and look set to finish out the CL behind a side who are juggling their first European campaign in well over 10 years iirc.

The cups are the only real disappointment for me this season. I think he'd find himself under real pressure if there was a repeat of that next season - the cup exits (and European in particular) largely turned the fans against Mourinho and Conte. Ange got a bit of a pass this season because he's brought a feel-good factor back to Spurs but the honeymoon period is gone so he'll need better showings in the cups next season (not necessarily winning one but no pathetic cup defeats).

They were both Premier League cup exits at least. I think if we'd gone out to lesser sides he'd also have had more pressure. We were dreadful v City and didn't muster any real fight against them but it's still City.

Chelsea are probably our comparable this season. First season with a new manager, no European football but better cup runs. I don't think I'd rather have had their season.
