There's a possibility Chelsea and Spurs do end with the same outcomes this season, Europa League football next season. Though I doubt Chelsea will manage it. Think they've left it a little too late.

I agree. He's done more than enough to have another season.

I do have a theory though. I think he's got the balance between expending energy and winning matches all wrong. Statistically Spurs are the most 'manic' pressers in the league, even more than Klopp's Liverpool. They engage the opposition the quickest. I feel that a lot of that is down to hard running and not intelligent positioning. Which is fine but you can't do that all game, every game and I think that's what Postecoglu has tried to do this season. And it's resulted in injuries to your best players and your side looking exhausted in a lot of games. I've remarked about it a few times throughout the season, they look ****ed after 60 minutes.

We'll have to see if he adapts, especially with likely extra matches next season. I'm expecting a really hard season for Spurs next year. I can't see him getting such a free pass for going out of the cups early this time round and they'll have the quality to go farily far in Europe. It's not out of the question Spurs could have an additional 20 matches next season. With his current approach, they'll be completely broken by January. You can probably have this approach when you have by far the most valuable squad in the league (Celtic) but in England, it don't quite work like that. Even City, with how deep the talent is in their squad, pick and choose when they ramp up the intensity levels and when they look to control games.

So it'll be fascinating to see if he does evolve, adapt, whatever word you want to use. He's been quite stubborn so far. Dare I say, I get big Arsene Wenger vibes from him.

I know you've made the point about energy levels and it has been seen in some games but there have also been countless others where Spurs have come strong in the second half of games. There've been a few late winners this season for us, particularly at home.

I think adapting will come with personell changes. He's talked about a number of exits and change needing to happen since the Chelsea game but that'll need the backing of the club to go and get the right profile of player. Pochettino made some big decisions when he was here and Arteta did likewise early at Arsenal before transforming the club. Ange will want to mould this squad to be more suited to his system to get the very best out of it. At the moment he's putting some trust in to players that probably have no future under him.

Next season will be an interesting one and ultimately make or break for him. Fans need to stick with him and there's cause for optimism but the results will still need to be there. I do have faith he'll get us moving in the right direction.

I did see the point made that there's no real risk to backing him this summer. The profile of player we'll sign aren't going to be problematic for a next manager in the same way they were under Mourinho or Conte..

We'll see how it goes but at the moment I believe we have the right manager and find it ludicrous he's getting so much stick from (online) Spurs fans. It's still season one, it was always going to take some time to compete with clubs that are much further along than us with their squad and managers.

Villa aside, I don't think there's much merit to thinking we should have finished any better this season. The cups have been the only real disappointment and one of those cup exits was at the expense of City.
