One of the worst keepers I’ve seen at this level, I remember it well as he was getting lots of stick when we played Maidenhead at home a couple of seasons back and his dad wanted to start a row with a few of our fans for them daring to call him out for being crap. Shocked he was still getting gigs at this level, good luck Maidstone.
He will be a CB for us I imagine as we already have two LBs We’ve also signed Joe Rowley after he was on trial
We've signed ex Blues midfielder David Davis on a free and Maz Kouyhar on loan from York for the season.
Disappointed we are not keeping Maz. We owe him for getting us promoted and played a massive part keeping us up last season at kiddy expense. Hinslewood brought Armstrong in from Barnet and put Hunt and kouhyar back into team and went on a ridiculous run. A confident Maz will rip that league up,works hard very skillful and scores quite a few, just needs to work on his assists and see the pass. Massive signing for you.
Just catching up on the transfer news in here - definitely a good statement of intent that for you boys. He'll be well up for the game at our place next month, as others have said very good at this level albeit a bit of a tosser. He's 26 (not 24) though - peak age with his experience I reckon.
Had it confirmed to me Sunday. We were offered Walker for fee of £70k and £2k a week minimum won’t get any lower due to deal at Burton, way outside of our pay structure.
Can you please ask your mate Mr Thompson and his pals on the National League board to hurry up and approve our takeover?
He has plenty of free time as he no longer has any input into our club following our seamless takeover.
Enjoyed the seamless takeover bit. Nicely done. We could only dream. Maybe the next one. Interesting info on Walker. I wouldn't be surprised if we paid £2-2.5k a week but does suggest he will be a starter forward and therefore the earlier rumours of Tshimanga are no chance, unless we are really going for it.
I think it’s a risk on Walker for that level of investment, loves a muscle injury and has never been that prolific even with us up top with McCallum. Him and Cardwell could be unstoppable though.
Cards usually picks up one injury a season and plays around 30 to 35 games. So good to have cover, which with Waldron and one other tbc, especially with this nonsense new competition to plan for. However, all the players that are with us this at the moment are at least having a proper pre season, which they never got last year, which is good. We should start fitter overall hopefully. Kev Maher is disappointed that we are behind the rest of the league in signings and has said so publicly. We know we will not be making any more signings until the takeover is confirmed, which is causing unrest amongst the fanbase with the time it is taking to complete, now it is at the NL board stage and each sides lawyers, Martins and COSUs have done their work on the deal, which is starting conspiracy theories about the interests of board members from rival boards. Still unnerving times, but also some positives. Pitch was totally relaid, that is a six figure sum. The Academy is starting up again, on e more that is a large costing enterprise. Workmen have been spotted at The Hall. Of course the two signings we have made. We will be tenants of the Martins for a period, but will have a 25 year lease and all debts cleared, including the accrued rent from Ron, which he agreed will be wiped off. Hopefully we get closure on this sad episode soon!
This was an interesting quote. This summer we have disbanded our academy as there is no protection from the efl regarding compensation for players that leave to bigger clubs so we felt it too much of a risk to.plough money into it. It will re start once we do gain promotion, but i do find it interesting that you start one as we deem it too risky
I'm not sure it's true either that our academy is restarting. Having youth groups and sessions which parents pay for is not the same thing.
As per.our official site the Academy is relaunching as a centre of excellence running alongside the shadow and development squads. Trials take place 6th to 9th August for the different age groups at Garon Park. The Centre of Excellence will be elite training and feature for us against other academy teams.
